Women's Swimming Downs Pepperdine

MALIBU, Calif. - The San Diego State women's swim team (3-6 dual) won 10 of 14 events on its way to a 164-124 victory over Pepperdine Wednesday.

Freshman Megan Storey continues to impress taking both the 500 (5:10.53) and 1,000 (10:28.43) freestyle. Storey has won the 1,000 in six of the Aztecs' eight dual meets this season and has won the 500 at the last four competitions.

Junior Heather DeFelice also earned two top finishes, touching the wall in 1:07.22 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:25.91 in the 200 breast. DeFelice's second-place finish (24.66) in the 50 free is a season best.

Sophomore Tara Johnson also secured two wins. Her 58.17 finish in the 100 butterfly was a season best to go along with a 2:09.19 mark in the 200 fly.

Also earning a pair of victories was sophomore Erin Kilpatrick who swam the 400 individual medley in 4:42.00 and the 200 free in 1:56.47.

The other two Aztec wins came in the backstroke portion of competition, with junior Meghan Casillan taking the 100 in 1:00.19 and freshman Aletta Haff the 200 in 2:10.73.

SDSU had a 1-2 sweep in the 200, 500 and 1,000 free, 200 back, 200 breast, and 400 IM, and a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100 and 200 fly.

The Aztecs finish their regular season Saturday with a noon meet at UNLV. The Mountain West Conference Championships will be held Feb. 14-17 in Oklahoma City.
