SDSU Tied For Sixth At MWC Championship

The San Diego State women's track and field team scored 12 points during the second day of competition at the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Track Field Championship hosted by Brigham Young.

SDSU pole vaulters provided much of the scoring today behind the second-place finish of Kristi Draher, a product of Mira Mesa High School. Draher tallied seven points for the Aztecs by clearing 11'10. Karin Erkkila added two points setting a personal best of 11'04 1/2 for a seventh-place finish. Freshman Abbey Huchel recorded a point in the pole vault department with her eighth-place finish, clearing 10'04 1/2.

The Aztecs will be heavily represented in tomorrow's final day of competition. SDSU advanced to six events, highlighted by senior Felicia Stone's three events. Stone ran a 13.26 in the 100-meter low hurdles, the second fastest time in that event. She also qualified for the 100 and 200-meter dash.

Promise Mose and Melina Smedley are multi-event qualifiers. Mose moves on in both the 200 and 400-meter dash, while Smedley advanced to the finals for the 100 and 200-meter dash. Joining Mose in the 400 final is freshman Jini Hogg who ran a 56.75, the day's third fastest time. SDSU will also be represented in the 800-meter run by Kylie Edwards and Jennifer Stakiw.
