LAS VEGAS - The San Diego State softball team won both games of a doubleheader at UNLV by scores of 8-4 and 11-9, Thursday, April 27th.
In game one, SDSU racked up 15 hits on Rebel hurler Erica Truax. Aztec pitcher Sandra Durazo had an exceptional outing offensively and defensively, batting 3-4 including two doubles, two RBI and one run scored. Five different Aztecs - Kellie Nordhagen, Sarah Hershman, Christy Sears, Vanessa Villegas and Alexis Gutierrez - connected for two hits in the game.
Game two saw 27 hits between the two teams before Durazo would pick up her second win of the day. Kellie Nordhagen and Alexis Gutierrez both went 3-4 and teamed up to bat in two of SDSU's runs. Vanessa Valenzuela hit the first home run of her collegiate career when she hit a shot of the leftfield fence to score two more runs.
The Aztecs are now 31-23 (11-5 MWC) while UNLV falls to 16-36 (2-14 MWC). SDSU will play a doubleheader with the University of San Diego on Saturday, April 29th, at 1:00 p.m.
