SAN DIEGO - Four members of the San Diego State women's swimming team will compete at the U.S. Senior Nationals March 31st and April 1st in Federal Way, Wash.
Sophomores Meghan Casillan and Heather DeFelice both qualified for individual competition. Casillan will swim the 100 backstroke while DeFelice will compete in the 100 breaststroke. That duo will team up with Erin Kilpatrick and Mariana Luevano to race in the 400 medley relay.
"This is the first time we've had individuals qualify for this meet since we reinstated the program at San Diego State," said Aztec head coach Deena Deardurff Schmidt. "We have a disadvantage because the meet is held in a 50-meter pool and our swimmers have only competed in 25-meter pools, but I believe we have a chance to do well in a competitive atmosphere like this."
Casillan and DeFelice will compete in their individual races on Friday with the relay scheduled for/ Saturday.
