SDSU Shines at 21st Annual Aztec Track & Field Classic

SAN DIEGO - Members of the San Diego State women's track & field team started the outdoor season on a high note winning seven of the 14 events they competed in at the 21st Annual Aztec Track & Field Classic at Balboa Stadium today.

In the field events, senior Lisa Domico won both the long jump (18-6) and the triple jump (38-4). Junior Aja Makaila Frary took top honors in the high jump with a 5-2 1/4 mark and finished second in the long jump (17-5 1/4). Sophomore Katrina Crouch and junior Mirna Hernandez took first and second place in the discus with marks of 137-2 and 125-6, respectively.

Senior Miesha McKelvy won the 200 meter dash with a 24.74 mark and was followed by Felicia Stone, who competed unattached, and freshman Zahaela Showe who took third place honors with a time of 25.37. The Aztecs finished 1-4 in the 800 meter run with Junior Meriah Earle (2:14.09) winning the event followed by junior Artea Dunn (2:14.36), Senior Kelly Phillips (2:16.55) and Frary (2:17.64). Junior Anniken Iverson took top honors in the 3,000 meter run with a personal best time of 10:36.43.
