SDSU Results from the Cal/Nevada Championships

The San Diego State track & field team finished tied for ninth-place at the 1999 Cal/Nevada Track & Field Championships which were held at UC-San Diego April 24-25. The Aztecs scored 48 points which tied Stanford University. The overall winner in the women's division was UCLA with 198 points followed by Nevada (81) and California (79).

Leading the way for the Aztecs was senior All-American Miesha McKelvy who ran a 13.26 in the 100 meter hurdles. McKelvy finished second after being edged out by UCLA's Joanna Hayes from UCLA who ran 13.25. McKelvy also finished sixth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.03. SDSU's Sophia Hawker finished fourth in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 17:42.92. The Aztecs' 4x100 relay team finished third with a 46.01 mark while the 4x400 relay finished fifth (3:47.13).

In the field events, senior Lisa Domico took second-place honors in the long jump with a 19-10.75 mark while Mirna Hernandez finished fifth in the discus with a 140-8 mark. Complete results from the meet can found at http://athletics.ucsd.edu/tffol/99calnev.html.

San Diego State will travel to Irvine, Calif., for the Irvine Invitational Sunday, May 2.
