Shane Geschwind, a graduate assistant for the San Diego State men’s basketball program for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons was named Director of Player Relations on September 24, 2026.
Holding positions with successively more responsibilities within the organization, Geschwind enters his sixth year with the program. He began his tenure as a student manager in his sophomore year and continued in the position as a junior. He assumed the head student manager position in his senior year (2023-24) and upon earning his bachelor’s degree, then joined the staff for two years as a graduate assistant.
Serving in multiple roles with the team, he has acquired a diverse set of skills which reach into every aspect of a collegiate basketball program.
In his current role, he is responsible for player relations and development, as well as international recruiting.
As a graduate assistant, his responsibilities included on-court skill development and off-court mentoring of student athletes to develop as a fully rounded individual in the classroom and community.
His duties as head student manager included leading a team of 10-plus student managers in the day-to-day activities of the team, which included updating the team’s schedule, helping develop their abilities on and off the court, and ensuring each of his team had a positive experience.
As a student, he was involved in providing the players with on and off court support, setting up practice and film, video coordinating, and assisting coaches and players in workouts and practice.
A graduate of Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minn., Geschwind won a boys’ basketball 4A state championship in 2018-19.
Geschwind graduated from San Diego State in 2024 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies and a master’s degree in liberal arts and sciences in 2026.
