Ryan Dooley

Ryan Dooley is entering his third season with SDSU after joining the Aztecs men’s soccer team staff in 2022.

In 2023, SDSU was the last team in the nation to concede a goal and finished non-conference play undefeated and were ranked as high as 17th in the nation before starting conference play. Reid Fisher was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, goalkeeper Logan Erb was named to the Pac-12 second team and Reid Fisher, Rommee Jaridly and Reid Sproat were named as honorable mentions. 

In 2022, SDSU earned results against three top ten teams in a two-week span. After the season, CJ Fodrey was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year while Jacob Castro and Blake Bowen were named to the second team and Inigo Vaillaldea made the honorable mention. At the conclusion of the season, five Aztecs went on to sign professional contracts, including Fodrey being drafted 13th overall in the MLS super draft. 

Dooley has strong ties to the local community and has been integral in developing community engagement on and off the pitch for the Aztecs men’s soccer team. He has helped grow attendance at games and interest in the program by strategically engaging local elementary schools, soccer clubs, and other community organizations throughout San Diego.  

During the time with the program Dooley has led initiatives to improve facilities and concession standards as well as campus involvement.

In addition to working SDSU summer soccer camps and ID camps, Dooley has several years of experience coaching at the youth level with Crusaders Soccer Club.   

Dooley played soccer for El Toro High School, starting every game of his senior season, and helped lead his team to the first CIF Division I finals in school history.   

Dooley is a two-time graduate of SDSU having earned a bachelor’s degree in communication in 2003 and a Master of Business Administration in 2019.
