Kenny Delp begins his first season as an Aztec assistant coach in 2003 after serving as a volunteer assistant in 2002. Delp, who is currently working on his bachelor[apos]s degree in kinesiology at SDSU, boasts impressive water polo coaching and playing credentials.
Delp played at Sierra College in Sacramento from 1999-00 and earned all-Northern California honors both seasons. An honorable mention All-American in 2000, he led Sierra to its first appearance in the California Junior College Water Polo Championships.
While at Lake Bromtley High School in Orlando, Fla., Delp was a four-year varsity starter. A four-time all-conference selection and two-time All-America pick, Delp helped lead Lake Brantley to the 1998 state championships in swimming and water polo.
Despite his undergraduate status, Delp claims considerable coaching experience. After completing his playing career at Sierra, Delp served as head coach of the SDSU club team last season in addition to his responsibilities as a volunteer assistant with the varsity team. He also assisted the Sierra Masters club team and coached age-group summer camps from 1999-00.
Born in Reading, Penn., in 1980, Kenneth Marvin Delp III is the son of Kenneth and Krisdon Delp. He has one sister, Kimberly. Upon completion of his kinesiology degree, Delp holds career plans of becoming a teacher and coach.
