Jill Young

Jill Young enters her second year as an assistant at San Diego State after spending the 1998 and 1999 seasons as an assistant and goalkeeper specialist at the College of William and Mary.

The Tribe were back-to-back Colonial Athletic Association champions both years she served as an assistant there. During those two seasons, the team finished with national rankings of 12th and ninth respectively.

As a collegiate player, Young patrolled the nets in goal for the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She was first-team all-Big South all four years and Big South Tournament MVP. Her UNCA records include: career shutouts (25), season shutouts (12), lowest goals-against average in a season (0.76) and most career saves (297). Her goals against average of 0.76 during the 1995 season ranked fifth in the nation. She graduated in 1997 with a bachelors of arts degree in sociology and a concentration in pre-law.

As national director of Soccer Plus goalkeeper school, Young works along side Tony DiCicco, former national and World Cup head coach. One of only three females to hold this position, she travels extensively and trains some of the most talented youth keepers in the nation

A native of Camden, Maine, where she was a player on that state[apos]s Olympic Development team, Young holds a NSCAA national diploma and a NSCAA goalkeeper diploma.
