TitleWomen's Volleyball Student Asst. Coach
Janice Dykema

Former San Diego State player Janice (Dykema) Humphrey begins her first season as an undergraduate assistant coach for the Aztecs. Her collegiate career was cut short when she suffered a torn ACL prior to the 2001 season, and re-injured the same leg before the 2002 campaign.

The 22-year-old Humphrey originally came to SDSU after playing two seasons of volleyball at the University of Connecticut. As a freshman middle blocker in 1999, she led all starters in hitting with a .299 attack percentage. She finished second on the squad in blocks as well as fourth in both kills and kills per game. She capped her inaugural season by being named to the Big East all-rookie team.

During her second season with the Huskies (2000), she averaged over two kills per game and finished second on the team in hitting percentage (.339) and blocks (1.12 bpg).

Humphrey is a native of Portage, Mich., where she attended Portage Northern HS. While there, she led her prep team to a state title during her senior year and was named to the all-league, all-region and all-state first teams.

Janice was recently married to Ryan Humphrey and her sister, Kari, is currently a sophomore defensive specialist on the 2003 Aztec squad.
