Jamie Vessey enters her second season as the volunteer assistant coach for the Aztec Women[apos]s Swimming and Diving team. She works primarily with the middle distance and distance swimmers. Her duties also include assisting with recruiting and mentoring athletes as well as the fan page.
Prior to coaching at San Diego State, Jamie was a student athlete for the Aztecs, competed with the women[apos]s water polo team from 2006-2008. She was a member of the squad during the back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Women[apos]s Water Polo Championship.
Vessey joined the swim team her junior year while still playing waterpolo. That first year swimming, Vessey helped guide the Scarlet and Black to its best record since the 2001-02 campaign with an 8-4 mark in dual meets.
While concentrating on swimming her senior season, Vessey helped once again guide the team to another record-breaking season. In her senior season she was honored as the recipient of the Richard Dietz Endowment and was an Academic All Mountain West Conference athlete.
Vessey received her bachelor[apos]s degree in social science with an emphasis in a one-subject teaching credential in May 2009. She is currently working on her master[apos]s degree in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco.
