James Chassin

James Chassin
James Chassin came to San Diego State in August of 2016. He was promoted to the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning in December of 2021. He currently works with the Aztec women's basketball program. Chassin has also spent time training the SDSU baseball, women’s golf, rowing, swim and dive, men's tennis and water polo teams.

While at SDSU, he has helped the Aztec baseball team win two conference championships (2017 & 2018) and the women’s golf team claim the 2019 Mountain West Championship.

Prior to coming to SDSU, Chassin was at the University of Hawaii Manoa for five years (2011-16) – first serving as a graduate assistant and then as an assistant strength and conditioning coordinator. While earning his master’s in education administration, he designed and implemented all aspects of the annual programs for the men’s basketball, baseball (pitchers), softball, and women's tennis teams. Additionally, he assisted with football and was directly responsible for the quarterbacks. After obtaining his master’s, he worked with the men’s basketball, women’s soccer, softball, women’s tennis, beach volleyball and women’s golf teams.

Chassin also spent time as an intern at Louisville (2010-11) and Saint Louis University (2010).

Chassin graduated from the University of Missouri in 2009 with a degree in psychology.

Chassin is a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC), the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS) and Functional Movement Systems (Level One).
