Erica Nelson joined the Aztecs in July of 2022 as an Associate Athletic Trainer working with the Aztec track & field and cross-country teams.
Nelson came to SDSU after spending one year at Louisiana Tech as an Athletic Trainer with the men’s and women’s track & field and cross-country teams. Prior to her time at LA Tech, she worked with the women’s track & field and both men’s and women’s cross country teams as an Associate Athletic Trainer at the University of Nevada Reno.
Nelson’s first position as a certified athletic trainer was at Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, Oregon; where she provided healthcare for the women’s soccer, men's and women’s cross country, women’s basketball, baseball, and men’s and women’s track & field teams.
Erica graduated from Oregon State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Science. She competed as a member of the varsity women's swim team at OSU. Nelson spent two years coaching swimming at Linfield College before attending Pacific University, where she graduated with a Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2018.
Nelson is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and has taken Graston Technique M-1 and Structure & Function Dry Needling 1 advanced soft tissue courses.
Erica is an Oregon native, growing up in the state capital.
