Andrea Alfiler comes to San Diego State after performing as assistant coach last season at nearby Point Loma Nazarene, helping the Sea Lions to their best season in school history, a 14-3-2 record and No. 20 ranking in the final NAIA poll.
Previously, Alfiler played professionally with the WUSA[apos]s San Diego Spirit in 2003 and the Philadelphia Charge in 2002. She is currently a member of the Rochester Reign, who play in the Women[apos]s Premier Soccer League.
As a student-athlete at Azusa Pacific University, Alfiler was named the 2001 NAIA player of the year and Golden State Athletic Conference MVP. She is a three-time all-conference, all-regional and All-American selection and earned NAIA all-tournament honors in each of her last three seasons. She also helped lead the 1998 squad to the program[apos]s lone national championship and a 24-0-1 mark and the 1999 and 2001 teams to NAIA semifinal appearances. Alfiler played one year with the APU basketball team and graduated with honors in 2002 with a degree in physical education.
