Patrick Spieldenner
Patrick Spieldenner began his tenure as head athletic trainer at San Diego State in 2014-15.

Spieldenner arrived at SDSU after spending two years as the head athletic trainer for the Indiana football team. With the Hoosiers, Spieldenner was the medical coordinator on all aspects for the football team, working directly and closely with the head coach, coaching staff, strength and conditioning staff and nutritionists.

Prior to his appointment at IU, Spieldenner spent six years as an assistant athletic trainer at Nebraska. With the Cornhuskers, Spieldenner was the rehabilitation coordinator for the football team and assisted with all aspects of the athletic medicine efforts for the football team, including year-round preventive care, immediate care for injured athletes at practice and games and the reconditioning of injured athletes.

Before accepting the position at Nebraska, Spieldenner served as the head men's soccer athletic trainer and assistant football athletic trainer at New Mexico. He earned his master's degree in physical education at UNM with an emphasis in sports administration in December 2006.

Spieldenner received his bachelor's degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in athletic training from SDSU in 2004, where he spent more than three years as a student athletic trainer.

Spieldenner also had season-long appointments with the NBA-D League's Albuquerque Thunderbirds and the NFL Europe's Rhein Fire, as well as season and summer internships with the NFL's San Diego Chargers.

Spieldenner resides in San Diego with his wife Cinthia and four children: Jesell, Jazlyn, Maddox, and Lex.
