2023-24 SEASON (As a Senior)
Doubles
– Played in 30 matches including all 23 dual matches, primarily playing on the second court… Tied for the team lead with 13 dual wins (13-5) while placing second with 15 overall wins (15-10) and going a perfect 5-0 in Mountain West matches… Competed with four different partners… Played 25 times with Andreea Velcea… Began the fall with a win over CSUN’s Ung/Solis Urdiales in the ITA Southwest Regional Championships (6-1, Ret.) … After moving to the second court for the Feb. 14 match, went 13-0, not losing again until April 27… Started with a perfect 3-0 week with wins over Hawai‘i’s Masuda/Homolkova (6-1 on Feb. 14), Long Beach State’s Akyurek/Becirovic Novak (6-4 on Feb. 16) and California’s Alsola/Ivanov (6-3 on Feb. 18)… Finished the nonconference with wins over Portland’s Dimitrijevic/Pearson (7-6 (7-2) on Feb. 24), Washington’s Matsuda/Fortin (6-0 on Feb. 25) and San Diego’s No. 71 Evans/Nordikyan (6-1 on March 6)… Won all five of their Mountain West matches to finish on their way to All-Mountain West Doubles honors… Defeated Nevada’s Foerster/Luneva (6-0 on March 24), Wyoming’s Brink/Dobrilova (6-2 on March 28), New Mexico’s Huang/Sodre (7-6 (8-6) on April 7), Colorado State’s Lennon/Weekley (6-0 on April 12) and Fresno State’s Dunbar/Piferi (6-1 on April 14)… Won twice in the Mountain West Championships, taking down Utah State’s Kung/Chavez Sanchez 6-3 in the Quarterfinals and Lennon/Weekley again in the Semifinals (6-1)… Played twice with Rania Azziz in the SDSU Fall Classic I including a 6-2 win over UTEP’s Mencaglia/Telzynska… Competed twice with Zoe Olmos in the SDSU Fall Classic II… Paired up with Myah Petchey for the UC San Diego match on Jan. 30.
 
Singles – Competed in 31 matches including all 23 dual matches… Played mostly on the fourth and fifth courts… Finished second on the Aztecs with 18 overall wins (18-7), third with 13 dual wins (13-4) and tied for first with seven Mountain West wins (7-0) and five tournament wins (5-2)…Won two of three matches in the SDSU Fall Classic I, beating CSUN’s Cindy Ung (6-2, 6-4) and Minnesota’s Anali Kocevar (7-5, 6-1)… Won three times in the ITA Southwest Regional Championships against USC’s Gabrielle Lee (6-3, 6-3), UC Irvine’s Kayla Meraz (6-0, 6-2) and Hawai‘i’s Joelle Lanz (6-2, 6-2)… Won five straight matches between Jan. 27 and Feb. 16… Took down Loyola Marymount’s Anastasia Bozova (3-6, 6-4, 6-1 on Jan. 27), UC San Diego’s Sophie Pearson (6-4, 7-5 on Jan. 30), Maryland’s Francesca Feodorov (6-2, 7-5 on Feb. 3), Lanz (6-1, 4-6,10-7 on Feb. 14) and Long Beach State’s Justina Dondanay (5-7, 6-0, 11-9 on Feb. 16)… Finished the season with eight consecutive victories starting with conference play on March 15… Won three matches in March, defeating Utah State’s Indya Nespor (6-0, 6-2 on March 15), Boise State’s Shauna Hefffernan (6-3, 7-5 on March 17) and Nevada’s Lea Cakarevic (6-3, 6-2 on March 24)… Earned four more wins in the regular season over New Mexico’s Maud Vandeputte (6-4, 6-2 on April 7), Colorado State’s Sarah Weekley (6-4, 6-1 on April 12), Fresno State’s Daria Nazarenko (6-2, 6-3 on April 14) and UNLV’s Nikol Mircheva (2-6, 6-3, 6-4 on April 19)… Took down Colorado State’s Sarka Richterova (6-0, 6-3) in the Mountain West Championships Semifinals.
 
2022-23 SEASON (As a Junior)
Excelled in the classroom, taking home ITA All-Academic, Academic All-Mountain West and Mountain West Scholar-Athlete honors.

Doubles – Competed in eight matches including three dual matches... Played seven times with Alicia Melosch including three victories to win the Watanabe Classic (Horwood/Hersh, Utah, 6-2, Nov. 11; Fang/Aher, UNLV, 6-0, Nov. 12; Hu/Zhao, UNLV, 6-3, Nov. 13)... Beat Vu/Wagner 6-4 in the dual match against UC San Diego on February 4... Also competed with Cecile Morin.

Singles – Competed in 24 matches including 15 of 19 dual matches... Played in the fifth and sixth spots in the Aztec lineup... Won two of her first three matches in the fall, beating Utah's Madison Tattini 6-1, 6-3 in the USD Intecollegiate Tournament on Sept. 29 and Cal State Fullerton's Camila Garcia 6-3, 6-0 in the ITA Southwest Regional Championships on Oct. 20... Made the Finals of the Watanabe Classic by taking down Utah's Samantha Horwood 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 on Nov. 11 and UNLV's Cindy Hu 6-4, 7-5 on Nov. 12... Earned her first dual win over UC San Diego's Sophie Pearson on Feb. 2 in a 6-3, 6-2 straight sets victory... Took three out of four matches to open Mountain West play (Shatoho Toriumi, New Mexico, 6-4, 6-3, March 25; Sidnee Lavatai, Utah State, 6-1, 6-2, April 1; Nhakti Shah, Boise State, 6-4, 7-5, April 2).

PRIOR TO SDSU
Joins the Aztecs after spending the past three seasons at Florida International University... At Florida International University she amassed over 30 wins over the past three seasons and played primarily at the No.4 and No. 5 slot this past season for the Panthers... During the 2021-22 season Velcea posted an impressive 11-7 record in doubles play, and a 2-0 record in singles play in conference, helping the Panthers qualify for the NCAA Championships where they fell in the first round to Florida State...  In the professional ranks she has won national titles in both singles and doubles play, while reaching a career-high junior ranking of 158th in the world by the International Tennis Federation.
