bio through 2025 season

Sean Williams spent two seasons with San Diego State after joining Mike Friesen's staff ahead of the 2024 season.

In 2025, the Aztecs went undefeated over a stretch of ten matches from August 30 through October 12. The last time that San Diego State went undefeated over a longer stretch was during the final 12 matches of the 2015 season, when the Aztecs fell in their conference opener and won or tied the remainder of their conference and conference tournament matches. The 2025 SDSU squad made the conference tournament as the fourth seed and defeated Colorado State 1-0 in the opening match and played top-seeded Boise State to a draw through two overtimes, but fell in penalty kicks.

During the 2024 campaign, senior keeper Alexa Madueno spent the season in goal for the Aztecs and recorded the third 100+ save season in program history and second by Madueno. She wrapped up her illustrious career with the program records in saves and shutouts. The team went 9-8-4 (6-2-3 Mountain West) and advanced to the Semifinals of the Mountain West Tournament.

Williams spent 2023 in the same role at the University of San Diego. Since 2018, he has coached the DMCV Sharks club team, which now goes by Legends San Diego, leading the squad to the Surf Cup title and a Surf College Cup.

A native of San Jose, California, Williams played at Point Loma Nazarene, leading the Sea Lions to their first tournament birth in program history in 2017. After wrapping up his collegiate career, Williams competed for the San Diego Zest of USL League 2.
