In addition, Arefi served as the athletics liaison for other campus departments, including the President's Office, University Relations and Development, Business Affairs and Student Affairs, among others.

Arefi received her bachelor of arts degree in communication from SDSU in 2005 and earned a master's in educational leadership in 2010.

Raised in San Diego, Arefi graduated from Kearny High School, where she played one season on the girls' basketball team.
