Prior to San Diego State
Played at Point Loma in 2025-26 and at Concordia from 2023-25… Was a WBCA Honorable Mention All-American selection at Point Loma in 2025-26 after leading the nation in steals and finishing second in assists… Averaged 11.7 points, 6.8 assists and 4.2 steals per game… Her 203 assists was the second most in school history and her 125 steals was third… Became just the second Sea Lion to earn NCAA All-American honors… Was also named to the DII CCA All-West Region Second Team and to the All-PacWest First Team… Helped the Sea Lions win 21 games and make the NCAA West Regionals… Averaged 15.0 points, 2.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game across 53 games at Concordia University… As a sophomore, was named to the All-PacWest Second Team after averaging 16.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.8 steals per game… Burst onto the scene in the 2023-24 season, earning PacWest Freshmen of the Year honors and leading Concordia in scoring (13.5), assists (3.0) and steals (1.7)… Was named to the All-PacWest All-Academic Team after all three collegiate seasons.
High School/International
|Attended Cathedral Catholic High School in Del Mar where she scored over 1,500 points, was a three-time first team all-league selection and a two-time first team CIF honoree… Helped her school win the CIF Open Division Championship twice and Western League Championship four times… As a senior, was named the San Diego High School Sports Association Scholar Athlete of the Year… Played with her younger sister Gizel and with Ice Brady (UConn/Florida State)… Played for the U18 Mexican National Team in 2022 at the FIBA Americas Championship in Buenos Aires, Argentina… Played AAU for ball for the SD Sabers and West Coast United.
Personal
Itzel “Izzy” Navarro grew up in Tijuana, Mexico and commuted to Del Mar for high school… Her parents are Marely and Michael Navarro… In the summer of 2025, held a free basketball camp in her mother, Marey’s, small hometown of Sinaloa, Mexico, for 30 children ages 6 to 12… Lists Kobe Bryant and Luka Doncic as her favorite athletes… Enjoys cooking, shopping and trying new foods… Majored in business administration at Point Loma and is majoring in educational psychology at SDSU… Wants to be a vice principal when she is doing playing basketball… Came to San Diego State for the “amazing coaches and facilities and to stay close to home.”
