Had another good season, which was cut short because for the COVID-19 pandemic ... Was named an all-Mountain West selection for the fourth straight year ... Became the 12th player in MW history to earn all-conference honors four seasons and just the second Aztec, joining Celena Velasquez from 2003-06 ... Will now look to be the first player in league history to be named to five all-conference teams next season ... Was one of four Aztecs to start all 28 games (21 at shortstop, five at second base and twice as the designated player) ... Batted .272 (22-for-81) with four home runs, 15 RBIs, 21 runs, two doubles, three triples, 14 walks and seven times hit by pitch, owning a .417 on-base percentage and a .519 slugging percentage ... Led the Aztecs in runs (21), triples (3), home runs (4), RBIs (15, tied), total bases (42), slugging percentage (.519), walks (14) and times hit by pitch (7) ... Also stole three bases in three chances ... Had only five errors in 86 fielding chances for a .942 fielding percentage ... The seven times hit by a pitch were tied for the third most in SDSU single-season history, despite the Aztecs playing roughly half of their scheduled games ... 2019 SEASON - JUNIOR

Had another solid season, earning first-team Mountain West honors of a third consecutive season ... Started all 46 games she appeared in, missing the first five with an injury ... Hit .336 (45-for-134) with three home runs, 19 RBIs, 17 runs, nine doubles, 20 walks and three sacrifice flies, while owning a .470 slugging percentage and a .421 on-base percentage ... Led the team in average, walks, slugging percentage, on-base percentage and sacrifice flies ... Tied for fourth in the MW in sacrifice flies (3) and seventh in fielding assists (99) ... Was even better in Mountain West play, posting a .403 average with three home runs, eight RBIs, 13 runs, five doubles, nine walks, a .584 slugging percentage and a .472 on-base mark ... Led the team with a .354 home average (No. 2 was .290), a .475 average in the team's 25 wins, a .438 average against left-handed pitchers, a .417 mark when leading off an inning and a .355 average with runners in scoring position ... Had a team-leading 13 multi-hit games, six multi-RBI games and one multi-run game ... Led the team with eight go-ahead RBIs and 12 go-ahead plays (GA RBIs + GA runs) ... Ended the season on a 11-game reached base safely streak, the longest streak on the team for the season ... Was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs against No. 16/20 Oklahoma State on Feb. 22 ... 2018 SEASON - SOPHOMORE

Played in every game for the second straight season (51) and started 50 times at shortstop ... Picked up her play in Mountain West action, finishing as the MW Defensive Player of the Year and an all-MW first-team pick for a second straight season ... Overall, Thompson posted a .267 average (40-for-150) with six home runs, 19 RBIs, 27 runs, seven doubles, a triple, 12 walks, seven times hit by pitch and seven stolen bases, while recording a .447 slugging percentage, a .347 on-base percentage and a .944 fielding percentage ... Ranked second in the league with 127 fielding assists ... In conference play (which the MW awards and all-MW teams are decided), hit .347 (26-for-75) with five home runs, 15 RBIs, 20 runs, four doubles, a triple, nine walks and five stolen bases, while recording a .627 slugging percentage and .438 on-base mark, committing just three errors in 118 chances at shortstop, posting a .975 fielding percentage ... Closed her season with a remarkable 22 straight games reaching base safely, including a 12-game hitting streak ... Her seven times hit by a pitch ranked third in SDSU single-season history ... Had six multi-run games (1st on team), five multi-RBI games (T-1st on team) and 11 multi-hit games (2nd on team) ... Also led the team with 10 go-ahead runs, while adding two game-winning runs (2nd on team), four game-winning RBIs (T-2nd on team), five go-ahead RBIs (3rd on team) and two tying runs (T-3rd on team) ... Hit a remarkable .412 (14-for-34) with three homers, six RBIs, seven runs, .794 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base mark over the team's final 10 games of the season ... Hit a grand slam against Nevada on April 13 and a walk-off solo homer against Colorado State on April 29 ... Had three hits, three RBIs and two runs vs. Utah State on May 11.  

2017 SEASON - FRESHMAN
Had a tremendous first season at SDSU, being named the Mountain West Freshman of the Year and a first-team all-MW pick ... Batted .333 (45-for-135) with seven home runs, 31 RBIs, 26 runs, five doubles, two triples, 20 walks, four times hit by a pitch and six stolen bases, recording a .556 slugging percentage and a .434 on-base mark ... Committed just eight errors in 223 chances at shortstop for a .964 fielding percentage ... Was the only Aztec to start all 49 games and one of just three to play in all 49 contests ... Among the all-time freshmen at SDSU, ranked second in assists (131), third in home runs (7) and OPS percentage (.990), and fifth in slugging percentage (.556) ... Her 130 assists ranked second in the MW ... In league play, was even better, batting .391 (27-for-69) with six homers, 21 RBIs, 16 runs, four doubles, a triple, 10 walks, a hit by pitch and two stolen bases, recording a .739 slugging percentage and a .475 on-base percentage ... Had only three errors in 110 chances for a .973 fielding percentage ... Hit . 400 (12-for-30) with four home runs, 12 RBIs and nine runs over the final 10 games of the season ... Also batted .400 (34-for-85) in home games, .370 (17-for-46) against teams that made the 2017 NCAA tournament and .364 (32-for-88) in day games ... Was 4-for-8 (.500) with a grand slam and 10 RBIs with the bases loaded ... Recorded 13 multi-hit games (5th on team), seven game-winning plays (T-3rd on team), six multi-RBI games (T-5th on team), five multi-run games, five game-winning runs (2nd on team), four game-tying plays (2nd on team), four go-ahead RBIs (5th on team), three go-ahead runs, two game-tying RBIs (T-1st on team), two game-tying runs (T-3rd on team) and two game-winning RBIs, and was one of two players with a walk-off run ... Had a season-long five-game hitting streak to close the season, while posting a 10-game streak of reaching base safely from Feb. 25-March 9 ... Was 3-for-3 with an RBI, run and stolen base vs. Longwood on March 11 ... Had three hits, falling a homer short of a cycle, with two RBIs against Fresno State on March 18 ... Had a big game vs. Utah State on April 30, going 2-for-3 with a grand slam, four RBIs, two runs and a walk ... Had three hits, three RBIs, a homer, double and a run at Nevada in the season finale on May 13.  

CLUB - BATBUSTERS KG
Played her club ball for Batbusters KG in Concord, Calif., for coach Kiko Garcia ... Was in the Top Five in Platinum at the PGF.  

HIGH SCHOOL - BENICIA
Was a four-year varsity player for Benicia High School in Benicia, Calif. under coaches Kristen Grubbs and Jeana Geras ... Was an athlete of the year finalist in 2015 and 2016 ... Received all-league honors for three years ... Was an SCAC MVP All-State softball nominee for Cal-HS Sports ... Team was the San Joaquin Section Champions in 2014 and 2015, as well as the League Champions 2013-2015.

Shelby Suzanne Thompson was born December 16, 1997 in Missouri ... Daughter of April Cerna ... Is majoring in interdisciplinary studies.
