Improved dramatically from a redshirt season in 2015 to a productive season in 2016 to becoming an all-region and all-league performer in 2017 to earning the team's offensive MVP in 2018 and winning the team's Campbell/Cartier Award as a senior in 2019 ... Has a good arm ... Can play multiple positions.

2019 SEASON - SENIOR
Started all 46 games she played in at second base, missing five game with concussion-like symptoms ... Batted .290 with 11 RBIs, 22 runs, eight doubles, a triple, 11 walks, three times hit by pitch, a .352 on-base percentage and a .359 slugging percentage ... Posted an career-best .965 fielding percentage at second base ... Tied for fourth in the MW in sacrifice bunts (6) ... In MW play, was 24-for-82 (.293) with four RBIs, seven RBIs, 10 runs and five walks for a .378 slugging percentage and a .341 on-base mark ... Committed only three errors (all in one game) in 109 chances for a .972 fielding percentage ... Hit a team-high .429 (12-for-28) against teams that made the 2019 NCAA tournament and a team-best .438 (7-for-16) against nationally ranked schools ... Added 10 multi-hit games, four multi-run games and two multi-RBI games ... Had two RBIs, a hit and a walk in the opener vs. Syracuse (Feb. 8) ... Was 2-for-2 at Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 20 ... Had a hit, walk and two runs scored in back-to-back games vs. Nebraska and Oklahoma State on Feb. 22 ... Had three hits with a double and a run scored vs. UNLV on March 29 ... Had a solid weekend at Nevada (April 5-7), going 6-for-11 (.545) with four runs ... Doubled, tripled and scored vs. California Baptist on April 23 ... Had a walk-off RBI double s. Fresno State on May 3 ... Singled and scored in the final plate appearance of her career at Utah State on May 11.

2018 SEASON - JUNIOR
Was one of three Aztecs to start all 51 games, including 50 at second base and one at shortstop ... Led SDSU in most regular offensive categories, including average (.305), at-bats (167), hits (51), doubles (10) and triples (1, tied) ... Also ranked second in RBIs (23), total bases (63) and on-base percentage (.350) ... Committed just nine errors in 221 chances, recording a .959 fielding percentage at second base ... In MW play, batted .275 (22-for-80) with eight RBIs, two runs, three doubles and three walks, posting a .313 slugging percentage and a .306 on-base mark ... Had a .969 fielding percentage with just three errors in 98 chances ... Also topped SDSU in multi-hit games (14), multi-RBI games (5, tied), game-tying RBIs (4, tied), go-ahead RBIs (9) and game-winning RBIs (5) ... Hit .361 with runners on base (1st on team), .571 with the bases loaded (2nd on team), .283 with runners in scoring position (2nd on team), .409 with two outs (1st on team), .294 against ranked teams (2nd on team), .340 in road/neutral games (2nd on team), .388 in SDSU wins (1st on team), .300 in day games (2nd on team) and .312 in night games (2nd on team) ... Had three hits six times on the season and three RBIs twice.  

2017 SEASON - SOPHOMORE

Had a tremendous sophomore season, starting and playing in 46 of the team's 49 games at second base ... Batted .361 (57-for-158) with three home runs, 35 RBIs, 42 runs, 16 doubles and 16 walks, while posting a .519 slugging percentage and a .428 on-base mark ... For her efforts was named a second-team NFCA All-West Region pick and a second-team all-MW selection ... Her 42 runs and 16 doubles each ranked fourth in SDSU single-season history ... Also ranked in a tie for eighth in the NCAA in doubles per game (0.35) and 40th in runs per game (0.91) ... Among the MW leaders, ranked first in doubles (16) and fourth in runs (42) ... In MW play hit .349 (29-for-83) with a homer, 21 RBIs, 22 runs and 10 doubles, posting a .506 slugging percentage and a .444 on-base percentage ... Hit .429 (12-for-28) as a leadoff hitter, .427 (32-for-75) in home games, .398 (39-for-98) in day games, .367 (33-for-90) with runners on base and .362 (21-for-58) with runners in scoring position ... Also was 5-for-11 (.455) with 12 RBIs with the bases loaded ... Recorded 12 multi-run games (2nd on team), 17 multi-hit games (T-2nd on team), seven go-ahead runs (3rd on team), three game-winning RBIs (T-3rd on team) and five go-ahead RBIs (4th on team) ... Twice on the season had eight-game hitting streaks ... Also had a career-long nine-game streak of reaching base safely from Feb. 25-March 7 ... Was 4-for-4 with four RBIs, three runs, two doubles against Weber State on Feb. 12 ... Was 3-for-4 with a homer, double and three runs vs. Miami on March 4 ... Also had three hits, two RBIs, a run and a walk at Colorado State on March 24 ... Was 3-for-3 with four RBIs, a homer, walk and a run vs. San Jose State on April 2.  

2016 SEASON - FRESHMAN
Played in 45 of the team's 52 games, starting 39 times (34 at left field, four at right field, one as the designated player) ... Batted .274 (31-for-113) with two home runs, 26 RBIs, 18 runs, five doubles and seven walks, posting a .372 slugging percentage and a .320 on-base percentage ... Her 26 RBIs ranked third on the team ... Had just one error in 42 fielding chances, posting a .976 fielding percentage ... Played in 21 of the team's 24 Mountain West games, starting 17 times and batting .240 (12-for-50) with a homer, six RBIs and 10 runs, posting a .340 slugging percentage and a .255 on-base mark ... Led the team with a .444 average (8-for-18) with a homer, five RBIs and six runs over the final 10 games of the season ... Had eight multi-hit games, seven multi-RBI games (third on team) and two multi-run games ... Also had six go-ahead RBIs (tied for second on team), six go-ahead runs, three game-winning RBIs (third on team) and two game-winning runs ... Started out her official collegiate career with a good game vs. Canisius on Feb. 12, going 1-for-3 with three RBIs, a run and a walk ... Had another good game vs. Oklahoma State on Feb. 25, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs, a run, doubles and a walk ... Had two RBIs, a run, double and a walk vs. Bethune-Cookman (Feb. 26) ... Recorded three hits vs. CSUN (Feb. 27) ... Had her first career homer - a grand slam - and had two hits overall vs. Cal Poly on March 19 ... Was 1-for-1 with two RBIs and a run at San Jose State off the bench on April 17 ... Was 3-for-3 with a homer, double, two runs and an RBI vs. Utah State on April 29 ... Had two hits in back-to-back games vs. Utah State on May 1 (2-for-3, R, 2B) and at New Mexico on May 6 (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 R).  

2015 SEASON - REDSHIRT
Redshirted her first season at SDSU.  

CLUB - POWER SURGE
Played her club ball with Power Surge in San Diego under coach Ale Jordan for seven years ... Contributed to the team that advanced to the state championship two consecutive years (2009-10).  

HIGH SCHOOL - WEST HILLS
Was a four-year letter winner for West Hills High School in local Santee, Calif., where she played under coach Mike Applebaum ... Received the team's defensive MVP award ... Earned first-team all-Grossmont Hills League honors and also obtained first-team all-East County honors in 2013 ... Helped the Wolf Pack win the league for three straight years (2011-13) and a CIF Division II championship in 2011 ... Also competed in basketball for West Hills, receiving the 2014 coaches' award along with the 2013 Rookie-of-the-Year award.

Kathryn Grace Byrd was born April 22, 1996 in San Diego ... Daughter of Bob and Kim Byrd ... Was also recruited by UNLV and Boise State ... Is majoring in child development.
