2021-22 SEASON (As a Senior)

Doubles - Saw action in 23 matches with Victor Castro, winning 14 and playing in the top doubles position for the Aztecs… Won their first six matches, beating Hietaranta/Moreno of Nebraska (8-6, Sep. 24), Ornberg/Zhang of UNLV/UCSB (8-1, Sep. 25), and Becroft/Otico of Loyola Marymount (8-7 (4), Sep. 26) to go undefeated at the North Ranch Invitational before rattling off three more victories against UC Santa Barbara’s Castillo/Williams (8-2, Oct. 22), Pepperdine’s De Jonge/Halldin (8-5, Oct. 22), and Arizona’s Hassey/Smith (8-6, Oct. 23) to make the quarterfinals at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships… Finished the tournament season with a win in the Jack Kramer Collegiate Invitational against Leather/Smith of Cal Poly (8-3, Nov. 6), carrying the momentum into the spring season with three straight wins over UC San Diego’s P. Lan/Traxler (6-2, Feb. 2), Portland’s Neos/Pankin (6-3, Feb. 5), and Washington’s Davis/Wong (6-3, Feb. 6)... Won their first three conference matches against  Brodney/Dabic of UNLV (6-2, April 8), Ciemy/Zarkovic of Utah State (6-4, April 10), and Prieto/Azkara of New Mexico (6-2, April 16) before beating Air Force’s Baylon/Azuma (6-3, April 29) in the Mountain West Tournament… Played seven matches with Joannes Seeman, the first two of which were wins over Gonzaga’s Hollingworth/Trkulja (6-3, Feb. 26) and Pomona-Pitzer’s Comadena/Kelley (6-0, Feb. 26).

Singles - Played in the top singles spot and led the Aztecs with a 17-8 record in 30 matches, while compiling winning records in tournament (6-4), dual (11-4), and Mountain West (3-1) play… Started out the season with two straight victories in the North Ranch Invitational, beating UNLV’s Milos Dabic (4-6, 6-4, 7-5, Sep. 24) and Loyola Marymount’s Dane Esses (7-6 (5), 6-1, Sep. 25)... Picked up at least one win in each of the other three tournaments, beating SMU’s Adam Neff (3-6, 7-6 (4), 10-3, Oct. 2) and UTSA’s Sebastian Rogers (6-0, 6-1, Oct. 2) at the ITA All-American Championships before beating Austin Di Giulio of Loyola Marymount in the ITA Southwest Regional Championships (6-1, 6-3, Oct. 22) and Stefano Tsorotiotis of UC Santa Barbara in the Jack Kramer Invitational (4-6, 6-3, 6-4, Nov. 5)... Earned wins in his first four finishes in dual matches as an Aztec, beating UC San Diego’s Phillip Lan (6-4, 6-3, Feb. 2), Portland’s Eleftherios Neos (7-5, 2-6, 7-5, Feb. 5), UC Santa Barbara’s Stefano Tsorotiotis (6-2, 6-2, Feb. 11), and Loyola Marymount’s Dane Ennes (7-5, 6-2, Feb. 12)... Bounced back from a loss to win back-to-back matches again, this time beating Sasha Trkulja of Gonzaga (6-2, 6-2, Feb. 26) and Hayden Snyder of Pomona-Pitzer (6-2, 6-0, Feb. 26)... Picked up his final non-conference win against Sema Pankin of Portland (4-6, 6-1, 6-4, Mar. 26)... Won his final four finishes of the season, beating Utah State’s Bodin Zarkovic (6-4, 2-6, 6-1, April 10), New Mexico’s Arda Azkara (6-3, 1-6, 6-3, April 16), and Boise State’s Pedro Liborio (6-3, 6-4, April 21), and Air Force’s Robert Baylon in the Mountain West Tournament (7-6, 6-4, April 29).


 

Enrolled at San Diego State after receiving an extra year of eligibility from the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic … Was a four-year letterwinner at Iowa, where he compiled a 52-39 record in doubles play and a 56-54 mark in singles … Saw action at all three positions in the Hawkeyes’ doubles rotation during dual-match competition and alternated primarily between the second, third and fourth spots on the team’s singles ladder … Proved himself as a clutch performer at Iowa, winning 14 singles matches in three sets, including those decided by a 10-point tiebreaker … Earned his undergraduate degree in economics.

 2020-21 SEASON (As a Senior at Iowa)
Landed on the Dean’s List for the fall semester.
     Doubles — Posted a 6-9 record with five different partners during his final tour of duty with the Hawkeyes, logging most of his action in the No. 3 position … Joined forces with Peter Alam to register a 5-4 mark, highlighted by a four-match winning streak from March 12-21 … Also teamed with Oliver Okonkwa (1-1), Matt Clegg (0-2) and Rudra Dixit (0-2) and Kareem Allaf (0-1).
     Singles — Compiled an 8-8 record alternating between the third and fourth spots in Iowa’s lineup …
Helped the Hawkeyes to three consecutive victories with a trio of wins from Feb. 19-28 … Cruised past Indiana’s Carson Haskins (6-0, 6-1) before duplicating the feat two days later vs. Purdue’s Michal Wozniak (6-1, 6-2) … Was the first player off the court against Nebraska after disposing of the Huskers’ William Gleason (6-3, 6-1) … Emerged triumphant in his final singles match for Iowa with a 6-4, 6-2 conquest of Wisconsin’s Robin Parts, as the Hawkeyes edged the Badgers on road, 4-3 (April 16).
 
2019-20 SEASON (As a Junior at Iowa)
     Doubles — Amassed a 13-7 record, including a 7-4 mark alongside Matt Clegg in dual-match competition … Duo alternated between the second and third spots in the Hawkeyes rotation before the balance of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic … Also teamed with Will Davies in the No. 1 position for a 6-4 victory over Creighton’s Mac Mease/Nick Campbell, helping Iowa capture a 5-2 triumph (1-18-20) … Joined forces with Oliver Okonkwo for a runner-up finish at the Big Ten Indoor Championships in Lincoln, Nebraska, during the fall tournament schedule (11-1/2-19) … Earlier combined with Davies to reach the finals of the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Michigan (10-11/12-19).
     Singles — Posted an 11-11 overall record, including a 5-2 mark in the No. 3 spot during dual-match play … Enjoyed an eight-match winning streak split between the fall and spring schedules … Captured the consolation title at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, punctuated by a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Michigan State’s John Carlin in the finals … Emerged triumphant in his first four dual-match encounters as well, highlighted by a three-set decision over No. 114 Reed Collier of Texas Tech, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 (1-16-20) … Capped his streak with another three-set victory over Marquette’s Luis Heredia Gomez, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(3) (1-25-20).  
 
2018-19 SEASON (As a Sophomore at Iowa)
Contributed to a Hawkeye team that tied for third-most victories in school history with an 18-10 record in dual-match competition, including a 14-2 mark at home, as Iowa finished the year with a No. 43 ITA ranking.
     Doubles — Registered a 16-13 overall record, including an 11-10 mark at the No. 3 position during the spring slate … Teamed with Nikita Snezhko for eight wins, highlighted by a four-match winning streak in dual-match play from April 14-21 … Joined forces with Piotr Smietana to capture the Flight B doubles crown at the Big Ten Indoor Championships in Ann Arbor, Michigan, capped by an 8-4 triumph over Nebraska’s Chris Dean and Isaac Nortey in the finals (11-2-18) … Also combined with Oliver Okonkwo to claim the Flight C doubles title at the Longhorn Invitational in Austin Texas, culminating with an 8-4 victory in the championship match over Texas Tech’s Jackson Cobb and Tommy Mylnikov (11-9-18).
     Singles — Finished with an 18-18 record for the year … Played on courts 2-5 during the dual-match schedule, posting a 10-13 ledger … Ranked third on the squad with five wins in Big Ten matches … Matched his season-best with three consecutive victories in straight sets from April 14-21, including a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Michigan State’s Carson Gates, when he was the first player off the court in the Hawkeyes’ 5-2 win vs. the Spartans.
 
2017-18 SEASON (As a Freshman at Iowa)
Helped the Hawkeyes finish with a No. 57 ITA ranking.
     Doubles — Crafted his most successful season on the Iowa City campus as a freshman, posting a 17-10 record … Teamed with Jake Jacoby for a 14-7 mark in the No. 3 position …  Duo also combined in the No. 1 spot for a 6-1 triumph over South Dakota State’s Elliot Ward/Marco Paulo Castro to highlight a season-long seven-match winning streak  (4-1-18) … Tandem ended the year with a 7-5 victory over Northwestern’s Chris Ephron and Antonioni Fason at the Big Ten Championships (4-26-18) … Also paired with Kareem Allaf for a pair of wins during the fall tournament schedule after opening the year with a victory alongside Will Davies.  ranking 19-17 record in singles play and a 17-10 ledger in singles play victories and 17 doubles triumphs. During the spring slate, he logged a 7-3 record at the No. 4 singles position and teamed with Jake Jacoby for a 14-8 mark at No. 3 doubles, helping the Hawkeyes win 16 matches, their fourth-highest total in program history, to go with a high ranking of No. 40 in the ITA team poll.
     Singles — Logged a 19-17 record, including a 7-3 mark at the No. 4 position in dual-match play … Also saw action in the No. 2 (1-1) and No. 3 spots (8-9) during the spring slate ... Fashioned a trio of three-match winning streaks, one of which featured a victory over No. 103 Aron Hiltzik of Illinois (3-31-18) … Emerged triumphant in his first collegiate match with a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Julian Zlobinsky of Wake Forest in the opening round of the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma (9-30-17).
 
PRIOR TO COLLEGE
Posted a 33-15 (.687) singles record on the junior circuit to go with a 45-10 (.818) mark in doubles competition … Attained a high ITF ranking of No. 210 … Earned a No. 28 Men’s Open ranking in Great Britain and rose to as high as No. 2 in the UK’s U18 rankings … Enjoyed a productive campaign in 2016, capturing  a pair of singles titles at the EuroElite ITF Junior Malmo Open in Sweden and the 1st Qatar ITF Junior Open in Doha, Qatar, along with a runner-up finish at the XXII International Junior de Leiria in Portugal … Played doubles alongside former Iowa teammate Will Davies at tournaments in England and Moldova in 2014; Finland, Croatia, and Macedonia in 2015; and Qatar and Sweden in 2016.

Parents are James and Jane Tyler… Has three siblings Adam, Jamie and Rob … Currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences (MALAS) program at San Diego State.
