2019-20 SEASON (As A Junior)
     Singles – Posted a 9-11 record in his first year on The Mesa, highlighted by an 8-4 ledger in the fall … Went 2-1 in his Aztec debut at the Silverado Invitational in Napa, Calif., where he knocked off Lucas Labrunie of Hawai’i in the opener, 7-6, 6-0, before finishing the weekend with a three-set thriller over Tulsa’s Tom Thelwall-Jones, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(10) … Collected three victories at the UCSB Fall Classic, capped by a three-set triumph over Alex Vedri of the host Gauchos in consolation play, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 … Toppled a pair of Loyola Marymount opponents at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, including a straight-set victory over Ethan Prost, 6-4, 7-6(4), in the main draw … Came back to pin a 6-4, 7-5 defeat on the Lions’ Lucas Moreno in an extra consolation match … Alternated between the second and third positions in SDSU’s rotation during the spring … Experienced three narrow defeats via super-tiebreaker, including a setback to No. 91 Dominik Kellovsky, 6-4, 6-7(6), 10-7, in his first dual-match start for the Scarlet and Black vs. 15th-ranked Oklahoma State … Snapped a seven-match slide with a three-set triumph over San Diego Christian’s Ivan Smith, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3, before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
     Doubles – Logged a 7-7 record, combining with Jan Kirchhoff (3-1) and Ignacio Martinez (4-6) … He and Kirchhoff helped the Aztecs snap a six-match road losing streak to Boise State dating back to 1994 after providing the clinching doubles point with a 6-2 conquest of the Broncos’ Kyryll Kryvchun and Kemal Karagozoglu at No. 3, as SDSU escaped with a 4-3 victory … Earlier joined forces with Martinez to capture the Flight A consolation championship at the UCSB Fall Classic, capped by a decisive 8-1 triumph over UCLA’s Bryce Pereira and Max Wild in the title match … Duo also supplied the clinching doubles point in the Aztecs’ 5-2 dual-match victory over UC Irvine with a narrow win on the No. 1 court over the Anteaters’ Bruce Man-Son-Hing and Mateusz Smolicki, 7-6(3).
 
2018-19 SEASON (At Arizona)
Saw limited action in his sophomore season, finishing with a 3-4 singles record, including a 2-3 mark during the fall tournament schedule … Defeated New Mexico State’s Mauri Benitez on the fourth court in a super-tiebreaker, 6-7(0), 6-0, 10-6, for his lone victory of the spring, helping the Wildcats blank the Aggies, 7-0 … Won all four doubles matches in the fall when he joined forces with Igor Karpovets.
 
2017-18 SEASON (At Arizona)
Competed for the Wildcats during the dual-match schedule, posting a 9-12 singles record … Logged an 8-10 mark in the second spot on Arizona’s singles ladder to go with a 1-2 mark at No. 3 … Compiled a 5-15 ledger in doubles play, pairing with Filip Malbasic (1-4), Jonas Maier (2-4), and Igor Karpovets (2-7) … Teamed with Karpovets to defeat the SDSU duo of Sander Gjoels-Andersen and Nicholas Mitchell on the No. 1 court in the Wildcats’ 4-0 dual-match victory at Rancho Santa Fe Tennis Club … Earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status for his efforts in the classroom.
 
PRIOR TO COLLEGE
Was a top-10 player in Finland and has been internationally ranked as high as No. 158 by the ITF.

Aaro Pollanen was born and raised in Helsinki, Finland … Son of Antti and Anne Pollanen … His brother, Herkko, was a standout college tennis player at Ohio State from 2013-17 … Lists Roger Federer as his favorite athlete … Enjoys fishing and playing basketball.
