Matt Deemer

Matt Deemer is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach. A recent graduate of Chapman University, where he was a back-up goalkeeper, Deemer already has four years of coaching experience under his belt.

Deemer got his first coaching experience as the Chapman Women’s Club Team Head Coach for the 2015-16 season. He also was the JV Head Coach at Villa Park High School from 2015-17, before being elevated to the Head Coach for the 2017-18 school year. As Villa Park’s Head Coach, Deemer helped them reach the CIF Finals, which earned him CIF Coach of the Year honors.

Along with his duties at SDSU, Deemer serves as an assistant coach for the LA Galaxy San Diego Youth Soccer Club.

Deemer holds a USSF "D" and "E" license and is working towards his "C" license.

A standout goalkeeper at Carlsbad High School (2010-14), Deemer was named the 2014 Avocado West Player of the Year and the 2014 All-CIF San Diego section Player of the Year. He left Carlsbad with the most career saves and shutouts in school history and the second most career shutouts in all of CIF. Deemer owns the distinction of being the only person in CIF history to win CIF Player of the Year and CIF Coach of the Year in a four year span.
