Kelli Magargal is in her 14th year at San Diego State and her third working with the men’s basketball program as its academic advisor and learning specialist. In addition, Magargal works with select other sports as a learning specialist. She initially came to SDSU Athletics in 2011 as an academic tutor and in 2013 began teaching composition, rhetoric, and literature as an adjunct and associate instructor at various San Diego Community Colleges. She was elevated to Academic Coordinator in 2018 before assuming her current position prior to the start of the 2021-22 school year.
In her position, Magargal supports student-athletes in the areas of course selection and enrollment, declaration of majors, college and university requirements, as well as NCAA academic eligibility rules and regulations. In addition to men's basketball, Magargal also works as a learning specialist with select athletes from the Aztec football, water polo, track & field, soccer and volleyball teams. She is also a member of the SDSU Leadership, Equity and Accountability for Diversity in Sports (LEADS) committee.
During her time on The Mesa, Magargal earned a San Diego County Community College Association Regional Fellowship and completed a teaching internship. In addition, she has performed as an Adjunct and Associate Instructor at four local community colleges, including currently teaching at Mira Costa and Grossmont Colleges.
Magargal graduated from San Diego State in 2011 with a bachelor of arts degree in English and comparative literature. In 2013, she completed a master of arts degree at SDSU in English.
