Shane Geschwind

TitleGraduate Assistant
Shane Geschwind
(Entering 2024-25 season)

Shane Geschwind, a head student manager for the San Diego State men’s basketball program for the 2023-24 season, was named one of the program’s graduate assistants in May 2024.

Geschwind has been with the program, as a student manager, since his sophomore year (2021-22). In that capacity, he oversaw the day-to-day activities of up to 13 student managers, which included updating the team’s schedule, helping develop their abilities on and off the court, and ensuring each experienced growth at their desired level.

His responsibilities to the team included setting up practice and film daily, traveling with the team to road games, video coordinating during practice, assisting coaches in workouts and practice, and providing the players with all the on and off court support.

After joining the team as a student manager at the beginning of the 2021-22 season, he was involved year-round. He worked with current players during winter breaks, and summer workouts, as well as with Aztec alumni who annually return to The Mesa for off season work.

As a team captain at Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minn., Geschwind won a boys basketball 4A state championship in 2018-19.

Geschwind graduated from San Diego State in 2024 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies and is pursuing a master’s degree in liberal arts and sciences.
