Carmen Harris, who came to San Diego State with more than 20 years experience working in the business world, joined the men’s basketball program as its administrative assistant on August 21, 2023.

The Whidbey Island, Wash., native spent the previous three-plus years as director of operations at EliteTek Sports, one of the leading manufacturers of football related equipment in the nation. While with EliteTek, Harris directed and coordinated  the day-to-day operations of the business, including aspects of production, pricing, sales and distribution.
    
In addition, she has worked locally in the field of real estate since 2014 and maintains an active sales license in the state of California. Working with Allison James Estates & Homes since 2014, Harris worked on all aspects of the industry, specializing in buyer representation and green real estate (energy efficiency and sustainability).

In addition to her real estate license, Harris is certified by the National Association of Realtors as an accredited buyer representative and has the Green Designation from the National Association of Realtors.

From early 2007 to late 2013, she was employed as a field medical team (FMT) coordinator for Amylin Pharmaceuticals. In that role she monitored, documented, and coordinated the continuing education in and training of FMT to a constituency of 25 team members.

Harris began her professional career at San Diego Gas & Electric as a senior administrative assistant working hand-in-hand with the director of federal accounts and a team of 35 departmental associates. She developed collaborative relationships with both internal and external constituencies and while serving the department as the primary contact for facilitating both operational and administrative duties.

From March 2020 to 2023, Harris served as a volunteer director of basketball operations for San Diego High School’s Boys Basketball Program. The team won three CIF championships, two league titles and made five state playoff appearances.

Harris graduated from Washington in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare and spent the summer of 1998 as an exchange student in a French language immersion program at Catholic University in Angers, France.

Harris and her husband, Eric, have two sons, Miles and Isaac.
