Bio entering the 2021 season

At San Diego State

  • Tahj Capehart, a four-year competitor at the University of Maryland, has joined the San Diego State football staff as a recruiting coordinator.

Collegiate Playing Experience

  • Played wide receiver, defensive back and special teams at Maryland from 2017-20.
  • Appeared in seven games as a freshman in 2017, playing primarily on special teams. Made his first collegiate reception for six yards against No. 10 Penn State (11-25-19).
  • Did not see game action in 2018 after suffering an injury during the preseason.
  • Switched to defensive back in 2019, playing in 11 of 12 games, including special teams duty. Recorded 13 tackles (9 solo) on the season. Notched four tackles and his first carrer sack in defensive debut vs. Howard (8-31-19).  Also made three tackles at No. 1 Ohio State (11-9-19).
  • Was rated a four-star recruit out of high school by Rivals, Scout.com and ESPN.

Other Experience

  • Served as Maryland’s high school camp coordinator for four years during the offseason.
  • Also spent time as a head coach at Ocean Lakes High School’s summer kids camp in Virginia Beach, Va.

Education

  • Received his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Maryland in 2021.
