Was named a preseason first-team all-Mountain West selection by the league’s media, Phil Steele Magazine, Athlon Sports and Sports Info Solutions, and a second-team pick by Pro Football Focus and Lindy’s Sports ... Played all 12 games with five starts ... Tied for the team lead with 66 tackles (29 solo) ... Had 1.0 tackles for loss for a total of three yards ... Also has nine quarterback hurries and two pass breakups ... Made his first game as an Aztec a good one, being named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 28 for his play against Ohio on Aug. 26, recording a team-high 12 tackles (seven solo) with a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry ... Spent the last three seasons with the Lobos, who run the same 3-3-5 defense as the Aztecs ... Totaled 149 tackles (69 solo) over the last two years after redshirting in 2020, including 11 tackles for loss, five sacks, one forced fumble, one interception and six pass breakups ... Was an honorable-mention all-MW selection in 2022, registering team highs of 105 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks ... As a redshirt freshman in 2021, he had 44 tackles, 0.5 sacks, 1.5 tackles for loss, an interception, a pass breakup and a fumble recovery ... In two career games against SDSU, he compiled 21 tackles, including 13 last year in the November meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
