Bio entering 2021 season

At San Diego State

  • Anthony Zampese brings a strong football pedigree in his second season on the Aztec staff as a recruiting coordinator.
  • His father Ken Zampese is the current quarterbacks coach with the NFL’s Washington franchise after serving a variety of offensive coaching roles with the Cleveland Browns (2018), Cincinnati Bengals (2003-17), St. Louis Rams (2000-02), Green Bay Packers (1999) and Philadelphia Eagles (1998).
  • In addition, his grandfather Ernie Zampese, an SDSU alumnus, was a long-time NFL offensive guru, highlighted by stints with the San Diego Chargers (1976, 1979-86), Los Angeles Rams (1987-93) and Dallas Cowboys (1994-97).

Previous Experience

  • Prior to his current position, Anthony Zampese spent the last four years as a student assistant at his alma mater, the University of San Diego. 
  • As a member of the Toreros’ staff, Zampese assisted with the running backs, special teams and recruiting while serving a short stint as the program’s video coordinator.
  • Among his responsiblilties with his position coaches, Zampese charted running back grades during practice, assisted with run diagrams and helped with scouting reports on opponents’ special teams.
  • In addition, Zampese supported USD’s recruiting efforts, communicating with prospects in the southeastern United States as well as evaluating videos of potential signees.
  • Prior to his move to San Diego, Zampese spent two seasons as a staff assistant with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Education

  • Zampese received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of San Diego in 2020, adding a minor  in psychology. While at USD, he served for two years as chapter president of the Sigma Pi fraternity on campus.
