Pierre Cormier

Bio entering the 2021 season

At San Diego State

  • San Diego native Pierre Cormier enters his first season as as a graduate assistant with the Aztec football program and will help coach the defensive backs. 

Collegiate Coaching Experience

  • Worked a student assistant during his first two years with the Arizona coaching staff in 2016-17, helping tutor the running backs and wide receivers. In addition to his coaching duties, he completed weekly opponent breakdowns and signaled during all practices and games in that role.
  • Moved over to the defensive side of the ball for his next three seasons in Tucson from 2018-20, serving as a graduate assistant for the Wildcats. In that capacity, he also led scout offense unit meetings and daily practices, as well as communicating personnel, formations and route concepts from the booth during games.
  • Also assisted the Arizona recruiting department during pre-signing day campus visits and summer official visits while evaluating and communicating with prospective student-athletes.

Collegiate Playing Experience

  • Signed with Arizona after a stellar prep career as an all-purpose back at Madison High School in San Diego, where he was listed as a four-star recruit by Scout.com.
  • Sat out as a redshirt as a freshman in 2013.
  • Switched to pursue a coaching career after medically retiring in June 2014.

Education

  • Cormier holds two degrees from Arizona, earning a bachelor of general studies in social  behavior and human understanding in 2017 before graduating with a master’s in educational leadership in 2020.

Personal

  • His uncle, Calvin Sweeney played college football as a wide receiver at USC and professionally with the Pittsburgh Steelers, earning a Super Bowl ring following his rookie season in 1979.
