Was listed as a “SDSU player to watch” by Lindy’s Sports ... Started two games and played in six overall ... Has three catches for 53 yards (17.7 avg.) with a long of 25 yards ... Started for the 17th time of his career in the opener with New Mexico State on Sept. 4, making a 24-yard catch ... Also had a 39-yard grab which was negated because of an Aztec holding penalty ... Played 29 snaps without making a catch in a start at Arizona on Sept. 11 ... Made a 4-yard catch in 34 offensive snaps off the bench against Utah on Sept. 18 ... Missed the Towson game because of an injury ... Also did not play against New Mexico on Oct. 9, at San José State on Oct. 15, at Air Force on Oct. 23 or against Fresno State on Oct. 30 ... Returned to play 16 offensive snaps off the bench at Hawai’i on Nov. 6 without making a catch ... Missed the Nevada game on Nov. 13,  UNLV game on Nov. 19 and Boise State game on Nov. 26 ... Was named a preseason fourth-team all-Mountain West performer by Athlon Sports ... College Football News listed him as “SDSU’s second-best offensive player” ... Had 13 catches for 122 yards (9.4 avg.) and two touchdowns in five starts (seven games played) on the season ... Started the opener with UNLV on Oct. 24, but did not make a catch, snapping his career-long stretch of 14 games with at least one reception ... Caught six passes for 64 yards (10.7 avg.) and a touchdown in a start at Utah State on Oct. 31 ... Recorded his first touchdown of the season and fifth of his career ... It was the second straight season that Smith scored against Utah State ... Had three catches for 26 yards (8.7 avg.) with a long of 23 yards in a start vs. San José State on Nov. 6 ...
