Entering 2021 season

Pronounced SEH-foh MY-LONG-ee ... Versatile athlete, who can play either side of the ball ... Joined the Aztecs during the 2019 fall camp as a tight end, but moved to defensive end very late in the season ... Athletic defender with raw talent ... Enters his second senior season third on the depth chart at one of the defensive end positions.

SENIOR SEASON (2020)
Played in six games on the season, recording one tackle ... Played on defense an special teams in the opener vs. UNLV on Oct. 24 without recording a stat ... Made a solo tackle late on the defensive line at Utah State on Oct. 31 ... Played statless time on special teams vs. San José State on Nov. 6 and a few on defense against Hawai’i on Nov. 14 ... Did not play at Nevada on Nov. 21 ... Played on special teams at Colorado on Nov. 28 ... Played on special teams and late on the line vs. Colorado State on Dec. 5 ... Did not play at No. 14/16 Brigham Young.

JUNIOR SEASON (2019)
Played in the team’s final 10 games on the season, almost all on special teams ... Finished with two tackles ... Did not play in the first three games of the season ... Made his Division I debut against Utah State on Sept. 21, making a solo tackle on special teams ... Other tackle came at UNLV on Oct. 26 ... Also played at Colorado State, vs. Wyoming, at San José State, vs. Nevada, vs. Fresno State, at Hawai’i, vs. Brigham Young and against Central Michigan in the New Mexico Bowl.

AT SADDLEBACK COLLEGE (2017-18)
Played two years at Saddleback College ... Totaled 39 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two pass breakups and an interception ... Registered 22 tackles in 2018 with four tackles for loss, a sack and two pass breakups ... Also had a 17-yard reception and three 2-point conversions ... In 2017 contributed 17 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and an interception ... Played alongside current Aztec fullback Connor?McBride in 2017 ... Was a two-star recruit by Rivals coming out of Saddleback College.

Sosefo Mailangi was born June 7, 1998, in San Diego ... Son of Jolinda Mailangi ... Played four years of rugby for the USA Rugby team, represented the Boys High School All-American under-17 squad in France for a 2015 match ... Is majoring in social science.
