Did not play during his second season, where he was as high as No. 2 on the depth chart for parts of the year.

REDSHIRT SEASON (2017)
Was on the travel squad the whole season as a true freshman, but did not see any action ... Ultimately ended up redshirting.

HIGH SCHOOL
Played at nearby Rancho Bernardo High School ... Led the team to a 24-3 record over the past two years including an 11-1 mark as a senior in 2016 ... Was 257-for-374 (68.7 pct.) for 3,496 yards and 32 touchdowns against 11 interceptions over the last two years, according to MaxPreps ... Also rushed 52 times for 237 yards and seven additional touchdowns ... Was a three-star recruit by 247sports, and a two-star recruit by Rivals and Scout ... Received a grade of 80 by Scout.
