At San Diego State

  • San Diego State graduate Derrick Baker started at SDSU in 2015 as an assistant strength and conditioning coach with the Aztecs.
  • He serves as the strength and conditioning coach for track and field, cross country and men’s golf, assisting with football.
  • Prior to graduating with his bachelor’s degree in 2014, Baker served as an intern with the Aztecs’ strength and conditioning program from January 2013 until December 2014.
  • While working toward his bachelor’s degree, he was the head student manager with San Diego State football from 2012-14, conducting daily football operations, assisting with defensive line positions, coordinating practices and games and issuing and maintaining athletic gear and equipment.

Previous Experience

  • After serving nearly two years as an intern with San Diego State’s strength and conditioning staff, he was an intern from January 2015 to July 2015 with California’s strength and conditioning program, assisting with football, men’s rowing and men’s gymnastics. 

Education

  • Earned his bachelor’s degree from San?Diego State in 2014 in kinesiology. 
  • NSCA and USAW certified.
