Final Bio

Speedy, athletic body who moved to safety in the spring of 2017 after working with the wideouts his first two years ... Was third on the depth chart at one of the Warrior spots heading into the season, but backed up 2017 Freshman All-American Tariq Thompson the whole 2018 season.

JUNIOR SEASON (2018)
Played in 12 of the team’s 13 games without recording a stat, logging 11 snaps on defense against No. 23/25 Arizona State ... Only game he missed was vs. Hawai’i.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2017)
Played his first career six games, recording three tackles (two on special teams, one on defense) ... Did not record a stat in playing time at Air Force, vs. Northern Illinois or at UNLV ... Made assisted tackles in three straight games played vs. Fresno State, San Jose State and Nevada.  

FRESHMAN SEASON (2016)
Did not play while working with the wide receivers.  

REDSHIRT SEASON (2015)
Utilized his redshirt season.  

HIGH SCHOOL
Totaled 49 catches for 587 yards and four touchdowns over his career (according to Max- Preps) ... Had 19 catches for 232 yards (12.2 avg.) and a touchdown in 2014 and 30 receptions for 355 yards (11.8 avg.) and three scores in 2013 ... Was a second-team all-Baseline League selection at safety as a senior ... Also was named the team's receiver of the year ... A team captain in 2014 ... A three-star recruit by ESPN and Scout, and a two-star recruit by Rivals and 247sports ... Received a grade of 73 by 247sports and a 70 from ESPN ... Also was an honor student.  

PERSONAL
Jerry Chaney was born Nov. 3, 1997, in Upland, Calif. ... Son of Jerry and Mera Chaney ... Father, Jerry, played football at Purdue ... Also received an offer from UC Davis, and was recruited by Fresno State, San Jose State and USC ... Was majoring in psychology.
