Final Bio

Athletic, defensive back who provided depth to the cornerback position ... Also played on special teams and returned punts his final season ... Received a scholarship late in the 2017 fall camp, but tore an ACL in his knee during the week of the Stanford game ... Did light work in spring drills and was third on the depth chart at one of the cornerback spots in 2018.

JUNIOR SEASON (2018)
Played in the final eight games on special teams ... Returned 11 punts for 76 yards (6.9 avg.) with a long of 34 ... Did not play at No. 13/13 Stanford, against Sacramento State, vs. No. 23/25 Arizona State, vs. Eastern Michigan or at No. rv/25 Boise State ... Played statless special teams vs. Air Force, San Jose State and at Nevada ... Returned punts for the first time of his career at New Mexico, returning four for 54 yards (13.5 avg.) with a long of 34 yards ... SDSU had entered the game with just 38 punt return yards on 12 returns (3.2 avg.) with a long of 19 ... Returned another four punts for 19 yards (4.8 avg.) with a long of eight yards against UNLV ... Was back to return punts at Fresno State, but did not return one ... Returned two punts for three yards (1.5 avg.) with a long of four yards vs. Hawai’i ... Returned a punt for zero yards against Ohio in the DXL Frisco Bowl.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2017)
Played in one game on the season, but missed most of the year with a knee injury ... Had four tackles, including three solo ... Also had 0.5 tackles for loss ... Logged time off the bench in the opener against UC Davis, making his first career four tackles (three solo) and 0.5 tackles for loss ... The four tackles (all on passing plays) tied with five others for the most on the team ... Did not play at Arizona State ... Injured a knee on the Tuesday before the Stanford game and missed the rest of the season.  

FRESHMAN SEASON (2016)
Played in his first two career games without recording a stat ... First appearance was on the road at Utah State ... Also played the following week against Hawai'i.  

REDSHIRT SEASON (2015)
Redshirted his first season at SDSU.  

HIGH SCHOOL
Earned three letters at nearby Ramona High School ... In 2014, captured all-CIF San Diego Section second-team offense and all-Palomar League first-team offense honors, when the Bulldogs finished as the League runner-up ... Led the team that year with 976 yards on 50 receptions with 12 touchdowns ... Helped Ramona to a Palomar League championship his junior season ... Also competed in track, wrestling and baseball at Ramona.  

PERSONAL
Garrett Reid Binkley was born on Oct. 26, 1996 in Memphis, Tenn. ... Son of Courtney Smith, who was a gymnast at Kentucky, earning letters in 1988 and 1989 ... Is majoring in interdisciplinary studies.
