Physical linebacker who became one of the leaders on defense ... Moved into the two-deep for the South Alabama game as a true freshman in 2015 with Jake Fely injured and stayed there for the rest of the season, before starting 38 of his final 39 games ... Had the most starts (38) on the either side of the ball when he finished his career ... A good run stopper who is not afraid of contact ... Had four career double-digit tackle games.

Was on the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Watch List for a second straight season ... Was a preseason second-team all-Mountain West selection by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele Magazine ... Started the team’s 13 games, captaining seven times ... Had 50 tackles (27 solo), including 5.5 tackles for loss, a sack, an interception, four pass breakups and nine quarterback hurries (second on team) ... Started and played 12 of the team's 13 games, making 82 tackles (44 solo), including three sacks, 5.5 tackles for loss and five quarterback hurries ... The 82 tackles led the team ... Also led the team with 65 stops on rushing plays ... Started for the 13th straight game and 14th time of his career in the opener against UC Davis, making two tackles (both solo), including a 5-yard sack (and tackle for loss) ... The 73 tackles ranked second on the team ... Came up with a then-career-high five tackles (three solo) in his first career start against New Hampshire in the opener ... Had another good game off the bench against California, registering four tackles (two solo) and a 9-yard interception returned for a touchdown ... The touchdown put the Aztecs up, 28-21, late in the second quarter, a lead they would never relinquish ... The interception (and touchdown) was the first of his career ... Earned his second career start at Northern Illinois, making four stops (two solo) ... Had three tackles (two solo) in a start at South Alabama ... Played in 11 games on the season, making 11 tackles with one quarterback hurry ... Mainly was used on special teams, but gradually logged more snaps in the backfield toward the end of the season ... Was on the travel roster, but did not play in the first three games of the season against San Diego, at California and vs. South Alabama ... Logged his first appearance of his Division I career at Penn State on special teams without finding the stat sheet ... Played again vs. Fresno State, but did not record a stat ... Logged his first stat, making an assisted tackle at Hawai`i ... Logged significant snaps on defense at San Jose State with starter Jake Fely injured for the second half ... Had three tackles (two solo) in the contest ... Had a solo tackle against Utah State off the bench ... Came up with an assisted stop in time off the pine at Colorado State ... Made an assisted tackle against Wyoming ... Registered two stops (one solo) off the pine at UNLV ... Did not record a stat in time off the bench vs. Nevada ...Also did not find the stat sheet in a reserve role vs. Air Force in the Mountain West Championship game ... HIGH SCHOOL
Recorded a team-high seven sacks, along with two interceptions as a senior at Punahou High School in Kalihi, Hawaii, according to MaxPreps.com ... Led Punahou to an 8-1 overall record and an appearance in the HHSAA Division I championship game in 2014 ... Was a two-time all-state first-team selection and a two-time ILH first-team pick ... Led the team in tackles and was chosen as the hardest hitting player on the team ... A three-star recruit by Scout and a two-star recruit by Rivals

Ronley Saumaniafaese Lealao Lakalaka was born Jan. 23, 1997, in Honolulu, Hawaii ... Picked SDSU over an offer from Hawai`i and also had interest from California ... Brother, Steven, played running back at Hawai’i from 2013-16, while his younger brother, Seyddrick, joined SDSU as a linebacker in 2017 ... Majored in social science.
