2022 SEASON (As A Freshman): Started 36 of 41 games in his first year on The Mesa, hitting .254 with five doubles and 12 RBIs … Scored 13 runs and stole two bases … Earned 20 starts in right field and 16 in left … Posted multiple hits in seven games … Reached base safely in 10 games to start the season … Drove in seven runs in 10 chances with a runner at third and less than two outs for a 70 percent success rate … Singled in his initial collegiate at-bat and later added his first career RBI on a groundout vs. TCU at the MLB4 Tournament in Scottsdale, Arizona (2-18-22) … Doubled and scored SDSU’s first run the following day in a 4-3 triumph over Houston (2-19-22) … Garnered Mountain West Freshman of the Week accolades after leading the Aztecs with a .375 batting average (6-16), six hits and a .500 on-base percentage in four starts from Feb. 28-March 6 … Set career highs with three hits and two runs scored in SDSU’s 8-5 setback to Hawai’i in 15 innings (2-28-22) … Singled and scored the tying run in the bottom of the eighth against the Rainbow Warriors that sent the contest into extra innings … Closed out the week with a 2-for-4 effort in the series finale vs. Arizona State, driving in the go-ahead run with a sharp single to center in the sixth inning to help the Aztecs secure a 4-3 victory (3-6-22) … Went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles vs. Iowa (3-15-22) … Drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and later scored after a single in SDSU’s 13-1 romp in the opener of a weekend series at Nevada (4-1-22) … Returned the following day and matched his collegiate bests with three hits and a pair of runs scored vs. the Wolf Pack (4-2-22) … Also crossed the plate on two occasions in the Aztecs’ 12-0 blanking of Air Force while adding an RBI single (5-7-22) … Earned a spot on the Mountain West all-academic team and received conference scholar-athletic recognition.
PRIOR TO COLLEGE: Earned four varsity letters at nearby Santana High School in Santee, California, under head coach Rigo Ledezma … Helped the Sultans capture the Grossmont Valley League championship in 2021 before advancing to the third round of the CIF San Diego Section Open Division playoffs … Santana High finished with a 21-6 overall record that season and a spotless 9-0 mark in conference play … Ended the year in style with an appearance in the CIF San Diego Section All-Star game in Petco Park … Listed among the top 500 prospects nationally for the class of 2021 by Perfect Game … Was also ranked 21st among outfielders in California and No. 137 for all players in the state by the same website … Received preseason All-America honorable mention by Perfect Game in 2019 (underclass) and merited the same distinction for the California region in 2020 (underclass) and 2021 … Earned a spot on the all-tournament team as a member of the CBA Marucci traveling squad at the 2020 Perfect Game Upperclass Fall National Championship in Surprise, Arizona, as well as the 2017 14U WWBA West Memorial Classic in Phoenix, representing Fernando Cortez Baseball … Also gained valuable experience as a member of the renowned San Diego Stars club program … Drew interest from USC, Oregon and San Diego during the recruiting process … Honor roll student.
