2023 SEASON (As A Junior): Burst onto the national scene with widespread acclaim, garnering second-team All-America accolades from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), D1Baseball.com and Collegiate Baseball newspaper along with third-team honors from Baseball America … Became the first SDSU baseball player to gain All-America status from multiple outlets since Casey Schmitt accomplished the feat as a freshman (Collegiate Baseball, NCBWA) in 2018 … Also received first-team ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region recognition after collecting Mountain West Pitcher of the Year honors and first-team all-conference plaudits … Was the bona fide ace of the Aztec staff, posting a 7-4 record with a 2.82 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 92.2 innings across 15 starts … Led the MW in several categories, including ERA (2.82), fewest earned runs allowed (29), opposing batting average (.192), innings pitched (92.2) and games started (15), while tying for the top spot in victories (7) … Also occupied the second spot in the league in strikeouts (99) while ranking third in fewest hits allowed (64) … Finished ninth in the nation with a 0.96 WHIP and was slotted 13th with an average of 6.22 hits per nine innings, both of which were conference bests … Gave up a season maximum of three walks in just four of his starts … Notched a stellar 7-1 record against MW competition, leading league in victories, ERA (2.27), opposing batting average (.157) and innings pitched (67.1) while ranking second in strikeouts (73) and earned runs allowed (17) vs. conference foes … Tossed the eighth no-hitter in program history to highlight SDSU’s 4-0 home shutout of Nevada (4-21-23) … Came tantalizingly close to a perfect game, issuing just one walk to lead off the ninth inning … Posted a career-high 14 strikeouts vs. the Wolf Pack, which marked the highest total by an Aztec hurler since Bubba Derby fanned 15 batters against Air Force on April 4, 2014 … Along with MW Pitcher of the Week honors, he received national acclaim for his no-hitter, including Pitcher of the Week recognition from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and D1Baseball.com, along with his selection as Peak Performer of the Week from the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award … With his performance vs. Nevada, he also pitched his second complete-game shutout a collegian … Pitched the fourth complete game of his career and third via shutout in SDSU’s 5-0 whitewash at San José State in seven innings (5-6-23) … Yielded just two hits and one walk vs. the Spartans … Collected at least seven strikeouts in seven additional starts, fanning nine batters in the Aztecs’ 4-3 victory over New Mexico in their penultimate home game (5-19-23), as the Scarlet and Black clinched a share of the MW regular-season championship the following day … Combined on a four-hit shutout of Air Force at home, posting eight strikeouts in six innings to help SDSU roll to an 11-0 romp (3-24-23) … Was named one of five national finalists for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award thanks to his prowess at the plate, posting a .272 batting average with a team-high nine home runs … Made 26 starts at designated hitter and 16 in left field … Topped the squad with a .902 OPS and ranked second with 35 RBIs … Finished second on the team with multiple RBIs in 10 games and tied for the second spot with two or more hits in 14 contests … Went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in the Aztecs’ huge 28-8 victory at UNLV (3-4-23) … Crafted a pair of season-long five-game hitting streaks from March 16-26 and May 7-16 … Fashioned a 3-for-5 effort with a pair of RBI doubles in SDSU’s 13-1 thumping of Air Force at home (3-25-23) … Matched his career high with four RBIs in consecutive wins against New Mexico (4-2-23) and UC Riverside (4-4-23) … Smacked a two-run homer in that latter game vs. the Highlanders … Helped his own cause on the mound with a solo homer in a 4-2 home triumph over UNLV (4-28-23) … Sparked the Aztecs’ crucial 4-3 victory over New Mexico with an RBI double in the fourth, as the Scarlet and Black overcame a 3-1 deficit (5-19-23) … Laced a pair of RBI singles the following day, helping SDSU rally from a 6-1 deficit and defeat the Lobos by an 8-6 count, which secured share of the Mountain West regular-season title (5-20-23).
2022 SEASON (As A Redshirt Sophomore): Garnered second-team all-Mountain West accolades in his first season as a starting pitcher … Ranked among the league leaders in several categories for all games, including opposing batting average (3rd, .237), fewest hits allowed (5th, 66), earned run average (6th, 4.58), innings pitched (6th, 72.2) and strikeouts (T-9th, 60) … Earned three MW Pitcher of the Week honors, which marked the most by an SDSU hurler in a single season since Addison Reed received a trio of such awards in 2010 … Collected his initial conference weekly certificate after recording his first collegiate victory in the Aztecs’ 7-1 triumph over Hawai’i (2-25-22) … Posted seven strikeouts in that contest and limited the Rainbow Warriors to one unearned run on a scant three hits in just his second career start … Tossed back-to-back complete games vs. Air Force and Nevada, becoming the first SDSU pitcher to accomplish the feat in consecutive starts since Dominic Purpura in 2016 … Pitched the Aztecs’ first complete-game shutout since 2019 (Justin Goossen-Brown) in the former contest against the Falcons, highlighted by seven strikeouts, as the Scarlet and Black rolled to a 12-0 triumph (5-7-22) … Aided his own cause with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate, notching two doubles, an RBI and a run scored to help SDSU blank Air Force for the first time since 2013 … Matched his career high with eight strikeouts in the latter game vs. the Wolf Pack (5-14-22) … Contributed to that 9-2 victory with his bat, finishing with a 3-for-4 effort with one RBI and a run scored … Also fanned eight batters vs. San José State (4-9-22) … Posted five strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in his first collegiate start vs. TCU at the season-opening MLB4 Tournament in Scottsdale, Arizona (2-17-22) … Made his lone relief appearance in 14 games pitched with a four-inning stint against UNLV (3-11-22) … Saw action in 20 games as a hitter, finishing with a slash line of .339/.379/.597 while notching two homers, eight doubles, 11 RBIs and eight runs scored … Earned 14 starts at designated hitter and one in left field … Batted .429 (12-28) with runners on base, while seven of his RBIs occurred with two outs … Hit safely in 10 of his last 13 games, logging multiple hits in seven of those contests … Belted a three-run homer in the top of the first at Fresno State, sparking the Aztecs to an 8-4 victory (4-29-22) … Also went yard with a solo shot five days later at home vs. UC San Diego (5-3-22) … Landed on the Mountain West all-academic team for the third straight year.
2021 SEASON (As A Redshirt Freshman): Made 12 appearances with one start … Batted .250 (5-20) with one double, five RBIs and two runs scored … Also drew a pair of walks, finishing the year with a .304 on-base percentage … Entered as a pinch hitter and delivered the game-winning two-run single in the series opener against New Mexico, as the Aztecs put up a six-spot in the bottom of the ninth for a dramatic 10-9 victory (4-2-21) … Smacked a key two-run double in SDSU’s 8-7 comeback win in game one of a doubleheader vs. Dixie State (4-24-21) … Earned his first collegiate start as a left fielder in the nightcap of that twin bill vs. the Trailblazers … Saw action in all three games of a weekend set at Nevada … Drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in game two against the Wolf Pack (4-30-21) … Was named to the MW all-academic team and received SDSU scholar-athlete distinction.
2020 SEASON (As A Freshman): Played four games as a reserve during his rookie campaign that was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic … Went 1-for-4 at the plate with one walk and one RBI for the year … Made his Aztec debut a memorable one, lacing a pinch-hit RBI single to spark a five-run outburst in the seventh inning of SDSU’s 7-5 come-from-behind victory over Virginia Tech in the season-opener at the Brittain Resorts Baseball by the Beach event in Conway, South Carolina (2-14-20) … Drew a walk in the home series opener vs. Oregon State (2-27-20) … Made putouts in all seven of his fielding chances at first base … Earned a spot on the MW all-academic team.
HIGH SCHOOL: Earned three varsity letters for head coach Brad Fontes at Buchanan High School in Clovis, California … Received first-team all-section honors after helping the Bears to three consecutive berths in the CIF Central Section Division I playoffs, including a spot in the title game in 2017 … Posted a 17-2 record and a 1.95 earned run average in 31 career pitching appearances, compiling 132 strikeouts in 133 innings, according to MaxPreps … Also hit .302 with six home runs, 33 runs scored and 57 RBIs, adding 13 doubles and three triples … Compiled an 8-1 mark with a 1.75 earned run average in 13 starts during his senior campaign, logging 59 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .164 batting average … Additionally registered a career-high three homers and seven doubles at the plate that season … Struck out 61 batters as a junior, finishing with a 6-1 record, a 2.19 ERA and two complete games … Was listed as the No. 7 first baseman for the class of 2019 in the state of California and No. 22 nationally by Perfect Game … Also competed in the prestigious Area Code Games in 2018.
