2023 SEASON (As a Junior): Was the lone Aztec to start all 53 games, batting .247 with one homer, 24 RBIs and 17 runs scored… Led the Scarlet and Black with four sacrifice flies, which was tied for seventh in the Mountain West… Ranked fifth on the squad in hits (44), RBIs (24) and stolen bases (6)… Also tied for fifth on the team with multiple hits in 12 games and finished with two or more RBIs in four outings… Posted a season-long five-game hitting streak from Feb. 26-March 5… Singled in his second at-bat as an Aztec during the fifth inning of SDSU’s 6-5 season-opening setback at Arizona State (2-17-23)… Went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored, helping the Aztecs snap a five-game losing streak with a 9-2 triumph over North Dakota State at the Tony Gwynn Legacy (2-26-23)… Played 16 games without an error from April 6-30, marking his longest stretch of the year… Finished strong over the final 12 games of the season, batting .326 with three doubles, seven RBIs and three runs scored… Helped the Aztecs clinch a share of the Mountain West regular-season championship after a 3-for-3 effort with a walk in the series finale vs. New Mexico at home, adding two RBIs, one run scored and a stolen base (5-20-23).
2022 SEASON (At Southwestern College): Garnered first-team all-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference honors at shortstop after hitting .369 with three home runs and 30 RBIs in 36 games, helping the Jaguars to a 24-17 record a berth in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) playoffs … Collected 45 hits, including 12 doubles and one triple, finishing with a .557 slugging percentage and a .426 on-base percentage … Completed 13 multi-hit games and registered two or more RBIs in eight contests … Notched a season-long 16-game hitting streak from March 19-April 23, posting a .409 batting average (27-66) with two homers and 17 RBIs … Notched a trio of three-hit games in that stretch vs. Orange Coast College (4-6-22), Imperial Valley College (4-8-22) and San Diego City College (4-21-22) to match his season high … Also made eight appearances as a relief pitcher, posting five saves to go with six strikeouts in 8.1 innings … All-academic recipient.
2021 SEASON (At Concordia Irvine): Started 32 of 33 games at second base in his lone season with the Division II Eagles, posting a slash line of .283/.330/.396 while driving in 19 runs … Finished with 30 hits, including five doubles, two triples and one home run, helping CUI compile a 21-15 overall record and a 12-12 mark in PacWest Conference play… Recorded multiple hits in seven games and notched two or more RBIs in six outings … Drove in a pair of runs with a single and his first collegiate double in the Eagles’ wild 11-10 victory over Point Loma (3-20-21) … Went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a career-high three runs scored in a 17-8 triumph at No. 7 Azusa Pacific (3-27-21) … Amassed a collegiate-best three hits in the opener of a twin bill vs. Biola, as CUI soared to a 15-8 win (4-3-21) … Tripled in both games of doubleheader split vs. Academy of Art (5-6-21) … Established a career high with three RBIs and matched his season best with a trio of hits in a 16-3 romp at Fresno Pacific (5-13-21).
PRIOR TO COLLEGE: Prepped at Hilltop High where he won three varsity letters under head coach Kurt Gritts … Helped the Lancers to a spot in the CIF San Diego Section Division III playoffs as a junior … Had his senior season in 2020 cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic … Pitched and played middle infield for three years as a member of the Garciaparra Baseball Group (GBG) San Diego club program … Was also a two-year competitor for the Blackhawks National organization with whom he once played in a perfect game … Additionally participated in the International Prospect Showcase in Mexico.
PERSONAL: Son of Sergio and Erika Gonzalez … Recently served as an assistant coach for the GBG U16 club team … Enjoys playing tetherball and video games … Is a huge fan of the movie Open Season … Majoring in liberal arts and behavioral science at SDSU.
