2022 SEASON (As A Junior): Received second-team ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region recognition ... Also earned Mountain West Co-Pitcher of the Year honors and merited first-team all-conference distinction despite missing the first three weeks of the season … Compiled a 5-2 record with a 2.07 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 65 1/3 innings of work … Led the MW in ERA and fewest hits allowed (57) while occupying the second position in opposing batting average (.235) and fewest walks allowed (15) … Also ranked fourth in the league in strikeouts and tied for ninth in wins … Yielded four hits or less in six of his 11 starts, including five straight to begin the season … Also allowed one walk or less on seven occasions … Garnered MW Pitcher of the Week accolades for the third time as a collegian after tossing his second career complete game in the Aztecs 2-1 victory over Grand Canyon, which entered the game with a No. 30 national ranking by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper (4-22-22) … Pitched at least seven innings in four other games, including a start at Nevada when he posted his first victory of the season after giving up just one unearned run in the Aztecs’ 13-1 romp (4-1-22) … Fanned 10 batters in just five innings vs. San Jose State (4-8-22) … Surrendered just two runs after scattering nine hits and a walk in SDSU’s 10-3 triumph at New Mexico (4-14-22) … Came away with his third straight victory after ceding two runs on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings in the Aztecs’ 8-4 win at Fresno State (4-29-22) … Set a career high with 11 strikeouts in seven innings against Air Force, marking the highest total by an SDSU hurler since Bubba Derby in 2014 (5-6-22).
2021 SEASON (As A Redshirt Sophomore): Posted a 4-5 record with a 6.14 ERA and a team-high 83 strikeouts … Also topped the Aztec staff with 15 starts and ranked second with 73.1 innings pitched … Finished among the Mountain West leaders in several categories, including strikeouts (2nd – 83), innings pitched (4th – 73.1), opposing batting average (8th – .291), wins (T-10th – 4), ERA (11th – 6.14) and fewest walks allowed (T-15th – 30) … Issued one walk or less in eight starts ... Earned a spot on the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List … Also received preseason all-MW recognition and was ranked 79th on D1Baseball.com’s Top 100 college draft prospects … Garnered Mountain West Pitcher of the Week accolades after recording his first career shutout vs. Fresno State (3-7-21) … Matched his collegiate best with nine strikeouts in that start vs. the Bulldogs, allowing just four hits and one walk in the complete-game victory, as the Scarlet and Black rolled to a 17-0 triumph … Also fanned nine batters in 5.1 innings against Dixie State but did not factor in the decision, as SDSU prevailed in an 8-7 thriller (4-24-21) … Posted eight strikeouts in four additional games, including a home start vs. San José State, when he collected his first victory in seven outings after yielding three runs on five hits and a trio of walks in five innings of the Aztecs’ 17-3 romp (5-8-21) … Was credited with a victory in SDSU’s 14-7 season-opening triumph over crosstown adversary San Diego as the first of five Aztecs pitchers that game, giving up four runs (two earned) on four hits and one walk against three strikeouts in 4.2 innings (2-19-21) … Also emerged triumphant in SDSU’s 5-1 home win over Air Force when he allowed just one run on five hits and one walk in seven innings while striking out eight Falcons (3-20-21) … Earned Mountain West all-academic honors for the second year in a row and received SDSU scholar-athlete recognition for the 2020 fall semester.
2020 SEASON (As A Sophomore): Garnered all-Mountain West accolades in a spectacular sophomore campaign that was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic … Posted a 3-1 record with a 3.22 ERA and 26 strikeouts … Shared the MW lead with three victories, which was tied for 23rd nationally, while his strikeouts and opposing batting average (.192) ranked second and third in the conference respectively … Also found himself among the MW leaders in fewest hits allowed (4th -15), runs allowed (T4th - 9), ERA (7th) and innings pitched (7th - 22.1) … Held the opposition to a .185 batting average with runners in scoring position ... Made four starts on the year, picking up two of his victories against recent national champions Coastal Carolina (2016) and Oregon State (2018) while earning another against Power 5 school Nebraska … Did not allow a run in the Aztecs’ 3-1 triumph at Coastal Carolina, offsetting two hits and three walks with five strikeouts in 5.0 innings (2-15-20) … Followed with a solid performance in SDSU’s 4-2 victory over Nebraska at the Tony Gwynn Legacy, fanning seven batters in 6.0 innings while yielding just two runs on four hits and a pair of walks (2-22-20) … Earned Mountain West Pitcher of the Week honors after combining on the Aztecs' 6-0 home shutout of Oregon State (2-29-20) … Limited the Beavers to four hits in that game while striking out a career-high nine batters against only one walk in six scoreless innings … Struck out five in 5.1 innings in his final start of the year at No. 11/15 Oklahoma (3-7-20) … Landed a spot on the Mountain West all-academic team after the season.
2019 SEASON (As A Freshman): Saw limited action in his first season on The Mesa, logging 2.2 innings in four relief appearances … Totaled five strikeouts on the year … Made his collegiate debut in the Aztecs’ 9-3 victory over UC Irvine (2-19-19) … Fanned a season-high two batters in the eighth inning of SDSU’s series opener at Fresno State (5-10-19).
HIGH SCHOOL: Won two varsity lettersat Canyon High School in Anaheim, California for head coach Mike Najera ... Pitched and played catcher, third base and first base for the Comanches ... Posted a 2.34 ERA with 48 strikeouts in 59.2 innings pitched during his senior year ... Also hit .306 with a .386 on-base percentage...
