Talented all-around athlete who saw action both at shortstop and on the mound as a freshman in 2009 ... As a prep senior, was ranked among Baseball America[apos]s top 100 recruits (no. 41) ... Drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 10th round in June 2008 ... Played during the summer of 2008 for the Eau Claire Express in the Northwoods League ... Had eight doubles, five home runs, 24 runs batted in and eight stolen bases over 19 games ... Had one save and a 3.68 earned run average in 7.1 innings on the mound ... Played in the Aflac High School All-American Baseball Game in August 2007 ... Also played summer ball for the ABD Academy.

SAN DIEGO STATE 2009
Was the Aztecs[apos] starting shortstop from opening day and also served as a starting pitcher on 11 occasions ... Over the final eight games of the season went 12-for-31 (.387) with two doubles, two home runs, five runs scored and 11 RBI ... Third on the squad with six home runs ... Hit his first collegiate home run at PETCO Park (home of the San Diego Padres) against UC Davis on April 3 ... Collected his second the next afternoon against the same team ... His third and fourth homers came in back-to-back contests (vs. Air Force on May 10 and San Francisco on May 11) ... In the regular season finale at Utah on May 16, had a pair of homers including a solo shot in the eighth and a two-out three-run blast in the ninth that tied the game at 7-7 and sent it to extra innings ... He would eventually come on pitch in the bottom of the 12th and get the final out to earn his first save in his only relief appearance of the year ... Tied his season high with three hits in that game and set a personal best with four RBI ... Also added a three-hit effort vs. Utah at the MWC tourney on May 23 ... Made 11 appearances on the mound as the team[apos]s No. 4 starter ... His first collegiate win came vs. Kansas when he went seven innings, allowing no runs on three hits.

HIGH SCHOOL
Won four varsity letters as a baseball player at Valhalla High School in El Cajon, Calif. ... Coached there by Mike Wilson ... A four-time all-Grossmont North League and all-CIF selection ... As a senior, earned first-team all-state recognition and was named to the Baseball Coaches of America all-District 8 squad ... Batted .407 with seven doubles and 13 home runs ... Compiled a .545 on-base percentage and .965 slugging percentage ... On the mound, went 8-2 with a 2.09 earned run average, striking out 81 batters and walking only 17 over 67 innings ...
