2024 Mountain West All-Academic Selection
2024 SEASON (As a Sophomore): Was employed primarily as a pitcher during his second tour of duty with the Scarlet and Black, appearing in seven games as a reliever… Posted a 7.04 ERA with five strikeouts in 7.2 innings… Did not allow a hit and gave up just one run in his last four outings on the mound… Made his season pitching debut at Hawai’i, fanning two batters in one inning of work (3-23-24)… Received a starting assignment the previous day as a designated hitter against the Rainbow Warriors but was unable to reach base… Totaled four additional plate appearances as pinch hitter over the course of the year… Retired the one batter he faced in SDSU’s 5-2 victory over Fresno State, helping the Aztecs complete a home sweep (5-5-24)… Earned a spot on the Mountain West all-academic team following the spring semester.
2023 SEASON (As a Freshman): Saw action in 17 games with four starts during his first year on The Mesa, finishing with three hits in 20 at-bats (.150) while scoring a trio of runs… Was utilized as a pinch hitter on 10 occasions, including his Aztec debut in the second game of the season at Arizona State when he reached on a fielder’s choice and scored a run in the top of the ninth inning, as the Scarlet and Black’s late rally fell short, 5-3 (2-18-23)… Doubled for his first collegiate hit in SDSU’s 28-8 romp at UNLV after reaching on an error and eventually crossing the plate in his previous at-bat (3-4-23)… Made his first career pitching appearance against UC San Diego, retiring two batters against a pair of walks in the top of the seventh, as the Aztecs ultimately prevailed, 5-2 (4-11-23)… Earned his first collegiate start at first base vs. UNLV, notching an infield hit in the sixth inning of SDSU’s 5-2 home victory (4-29-23)… Walked and scored a run in the ninth inning vs. Fresno State at the Mountain West tournament before the Aztecs’ late rally came up short in a season-ending 4-2 loss (5-26-23).
PRIOR TO COLLEGE: Graduated in 2022 from St. Augustine High School where he earned three varsity letters for head coach Craig da Luz … Was a prep teammate of fellow Aztec recruit Cade Martinez … Hit .321 across three seasons with 10 homers, 59 RBIs, 39 runs scored and nine stolen bases, according to MaxPreps … Finished his career with a .594 slugging percentage and a .404 on-base percentage … Garnered second-team all-CIF San Diego Section accolades as a junior in 2021 after helping the Saints reach the title game of the Division II lower bracket … Additionally earned underclass all-state honors from Cal-Hi-Sports … Batted .361 that season with a team-high seven home runs and 39 RBIs, according to MaxPreps … Also topped the squad with a .701 slugging percentage while ranking second in batting average (.361), hits (35) and fielding percentage (.974) … Made 13 pitching appearances over his final two seasons, posting a combined 3-3 record with a 4.62 ERA and one save … Struck out a career-high 10 batters in St. Augustine’s 5-3 victory over Cathedral Catholic in the 2022 regular-season finale … Also delivered an RBI single with a run scored and two stolen bases in that contest vs. the Dons … Received a No. 22 national ranking among first basemen from Perfect Game for the high school graduating class of 2022 and was listed as a top 500 recruit overall … Also earned a No. 5 ranking at his position among California players from the website and was rated No. 77 in the state overall … Collected second-team preseason All-America honors for the California region from Perfect Game prior to his senior campaign in 2022 after meriting such distinction as an underclassman the previous season … Also received a scout grade of 9 from the website … Landed on the all-tournament team as a member of the CBA Wave club program at the 2019 WWBA 15U West National Championship in Surprise, Arizona … Additionally excelled in the classroom as a prep, earning a spot on his high school’s honor roll before graduating cum laude.
