2024 SEASON (As a Freshman): Made a huge splash in his first year on The Mesa, earning 42 starts in 47 appearances… Was named Mountain West Preseason Freshman of the Year by Perfect Game prior to the 2024 campaign… Logged 30 starts in left field, 11 in center and one at designated hitter… Posted a slash line of .276/.328/.399 with two home runs, 35 RBIs and 30 runs scored… Additionally smacked 10 doubles and swiped a pair of bases… Ranked second on the team in RBIs while occupying the third spot in batting average… Was also slotted fourth in hits (45) and runs scored while ranking fifth in on-base percentage and  slugging percentage… Hit .432 against lefties and .316 with two outs, both of which topped the squad… Also paced the Aztecs with a .327 clip in RBI opportunities… Finished second on the team with two or more RBIs in eight games and compiled multiple hits in 13 starts, which ranked fourth… Garnered Mountain West Freshman of the Week accolades on three occasions… Helped secure SDSU’s 7-1 triumph over Portland with a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh for his first collegiate round-tripper (2-17-24)… Totaled four hits, four RBIs and four runs scored in that series vs. the Pilots to collect his first MW weekly certificate… Notched a 2-for-4 performance at the plate with two RBIs and a career-high three runs scored in the Aztecs’ 18-8 romp at UC San Diego (4-10-24)… Fashioned a season-long six game hitting streak from April 13-21, batting .565 (13-23) in that stretch with three doubles and one triple while compiling eight RBIs and five runs scored… Collected his second MW Freshman of the Week award after leading the Scarlet and Black in several categories against Long Beach State (4-16-24) and No. 15/17 UC Irvine (4-19/21-24), including  batting average (.688), on-base percentage (.722), hits (11) and RBIs (7)… Racked up three hits vs. the Dirtbags and in the first two games of a weekend series against the Anteaters… Set a collegiate best with four RBIs in that second contest vs. UCI to highlight a 3-for-4 evening at the plate… Matched his career high with four more RBIs in the series finale at New Mexico, falling one homer short of the cycle after finishing with one single, one double and a triple while scoring a pair of runs (4-29-24)… Merited his third MW freshman weekly plaudit following SDSU’s home series vs. Air Force in May…  Was the hero of the Aztecs' 8-4 triumph in the weekend finale against the Falcons, belting his first career grand slam in the seventh to break a 3-3 tie, as the Scarlet and Black and snapped a seven-game losing streak to Air Force (5-12-24)… Led the team with six RBIs and a .636 slugging percentage for the series… Knocked in three runs and crossed the plate on two occasions in the Aztecs’ series opener at Nevada (5-18-24)… Committed just two errors in 87 chances for a .977 fielding percentage, which ranked fourth among Aztec regulars… Earned a spot on the Mountain West all-academic team following the spring semester.

PRIOR TO COLLEGE: Graduated in 2023 from nearby James Madison High School, where he won four letters in baseball under head coach Robert Lovato… Was a prep teammate of fellow Aztec recruit Manoah Chapman… Hit .369 with a 1.013 OPS during his high school career, finishing with seven homers, 66 RBIs,  71 runs scored and 37 stolen bases, according to MaxPreps… Additionally made six pitching appearances as a prep, logging a 2-0 record with a 3.00 ERA and 11 strikeouts… Garnered Western League Player of the Year accolades and merited all-CIF San Diego Section plaudits following his junior and senior campaigns… Propelled the Warhawks to consecutive conference championships in 2021 and 2022, along with a third-round berth in the lower bracket of the CIF San Diego Section Open Division playoffs that latter season… Posted a slash line of .439/.484/.766 with five homers, 34 RBIs and 15 stolen bases as a junior… Led the team that season in batting average, slugging percentage, hits (47), home runs and stolen bases, while tying for the top spot in doubles (14)… Slashed .319/.426/.494 as a senior, contributing seven doubles, three triples and a team-high 17 stolen bases… Also topped the squad that year in hits (29) and runs scored (25)… Was slotted 14th among outfielders for the 2023 graduating class in California by Perfect Game, ranking 93rd in the state overall… Was also listed as a Top 500 national recruit by the website and was ranked 121st at the outfield position in the country… Received preseason all-region honorable mention from Perfect Game prior to the 2023 campaign after meriting the same distinction as an underclassman the previous two years… Competed for the CBA Marucci club program, garnering all-tournament accolades for 16U and 17U squads in consecutive years (2021 and 2022) at the WWBA 2023 Grads National Championships in Marietta, Georgia… Additionally received the same recognition at the 2022 Perfect Game 17U World Series in Surprise, Arizona… A multi-sport athlete who also starred in football and basketball as a prep… Earned all-CIF San Diego Section honors at wide receiver as a senior after catching 28 passes for 477 yards and seven touchdowns… Played small forward on the hardwood, leading Madison High to a 17-11 record during the 2022-23 campaign… Led the team in scoring for the third straight year as a senior, averaging 22 points to go with nine rebounds per game… Drew interest from USC, Long Beach State and San Diego during the recruiting process… Also fielded offers in football from Hawai’i and New Mexico State.

PERSONAL: Jacob Jackson was born in San Diego, California… Parents are Rick and Kim Jackson… His mother was a rower at SDSU in 1996-97… Lists Mike Trout as his favorite athlete… Enjoys golfing, weightlifting and going to the beach… Undeclared major… Aspires to play pro baseball or enter the teaching profession.
