AT UTAH STATE EASTERN (2022 and 2023 Seasons): Played two years of junior college baseball as a pitcher and outfielder at USU Eastern, located in Price, Utah… Made 13 pitching appearances with four starts as a sophomore in 2023, striking out 30 batters in 24.2 innings… Was named the Eagles’ Academic Athlete of the Year and received second-team all-academic recognition from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) in 2022.

PRIOR TO COLLEGE: Graduated in 2019 from Syracuse (Utah) High School, where he was a three-year varsity performer for head coach Trevor Thomas… Hit a combined .347 in 52 games during his final two seasons, collecting 50 hits, 44 RBIs, 33 runs and five stolen bases, according to MaxPreps… Enjoyed his finest campaign as a senior, posting a slash line of .380/.515/.632 with three homers, seven doubles, 33 RBIs and 24 runs scored… Earned second-team class 6A all-state honors after leading his team to a semifinal appearance in the 2019 Utah High School Activities Association playoffs… Also made 14 varsity pitching appearances over three seasons as a prep, posting an 0-3 record with a 3.78 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 33.1 innings… Limited the opposition to a .202 batting average… A multi-sport athlete who played two seasons of basketball at Syracuse High… Averaged 6.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game as a senior, according to MaxPreps… Served as team captain in his final basketball campaign… Honor roll student… Pitched one year at the club level in Marshall’s Baseball League.

PERSONAL: Born in Logan, Utah… Parents are Cody and Melanie Hawkes…  Resides in San Diego with his wife, McKayla, and son, Jayson… Enjoys spending time with family, hunting and fishing… Majoring in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in kinesiology, psychology and economics.
