2023 Mountain West All-Academic Selection

2023 SEASON (As a Freshman):
Played 49 games during his rookie campaign, batting .193 with five doubles, 10 RBIs and 15 runs scored… Also drew 10 walks and stole two bases… Ranked third in the Mountain West with a team-high eight sacrifice hits… Earned 37 starts, including 35 at third base and two at second, helping the Scarlet and Black capture a share of the Mountain West regular-season championship… Doubled in his first collegiate at-bat to lead off the third inning of SDSU’s season-opening 6-5 loss at Arizona State (2-17-23)… Scored his first career run after reaching on an error in the Aztecs’ big fourth-inning outburst against North Dakota State at the Tony Gwynn Legacy, as the Aztecs prevailed by a 9-2 count (2-26-23)…  Finished with multiple hits in four games, including a 2-for-3 effort in SDSU’s 13-1 romp over Air Force when he doubled home teammate Poncho Ruiz for his first collegiate RBI (3-25-23)… Also scored two runs in that contest vs. the Falcons… Crossed the plate on two occasions in consecutive Aztec victories at New Mexico (4-2-23) and against UC Riverside (4-4-23)… Singled and scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning of SDSU’s 5-2 triumph over UC San Diego (4-11-23)… Laid down a perfect squeeze bunt, which plated teammate TJ Fondtain in the Aztecs’ key 4-3 victory over Nevada (4-22-23)… Matched his season high with two hits vs. UC Irvine (4-25-23)… Drove in teammate Irvin Weems with the go-ahead run on a single in the second inning of SDSU’s 5-2 win over UNLV (4-29-23)… Knocked in a season-best three runs with a double in the fourth inning of the Aztecs’ 5-3 victory over San José State in the completion of a suspended game earlier in the year (5-6-23)… Started SDSU’s elimination game vs. Fresno State in the Mountain West tournament, finishing with one hit, one put-out and one assists… Earned a spot on the Mountain West all-academic team following the season.  

PRIOR TO COLLEGE: Graduated in 2022 from St. Augustine High School where he earned four varsity letters under head coach Craig da Luz … Was a prep teammate of fellow Aztec recruit Trevor Fox … Enjoyed his best year statistically as a junior, according to MaxPreps, when he posted career highs in hits (25), RBIs (21) and runs scored (27), the latter of which ranked third on the team … Helped the Saints to the championship final of the Division II lower bracket in the 2021 CIF San Diego Section playoffs … Was part of 34 double plays as a fielder during his career, including 17 as a senior … Also made eight pitching appearances in high school, posting a 1-0 record with a 1.79 ERA and three saves … Struck out 14 batters in a combined 15.2 innings, according to MaxPreps … Received preseason All-America honorable mention for the California region from Perfect Game prior to the 2022 campaign … Earned a No. 76 ranking among shortstops for the California high school graduating class of 2022 from Perfect Game and was rated 388th in the state overall … Was additionally listed as a Top 1000 recruit nationally by the website … Played for the CBA Marucci American traveling squad at the 2021 18U PG Fall National Championship in Surprise, Arizona … Also represented the same club team at the WWBA 2022 Grads/17U National Championship earlier that summer in Marietta, Georgia.
