Mountain West Pitcher of the Week (April 27, 2026)
2026 SEASON (As a Junior): Displayed his versatility on the mound in his first year as an Aztec, making 14 relief appearances to go with five starts… Posted a 5-2 record with a 4.85 ERA, 53 strikeouts and two saves, helping SDSU capture the Mountain West regular-season championship… Finished third on the team with 59 1/3 innings pitched… Recorded four or more strikeouts on six occasions… Was credited with the victory in his Aztec debut after allowing three runs on four hits and two walks with a pair of strikeouts in three innings, as the Scarlet and Black prevailed in a 12-11 nail-biter over LIU in its season opener (2-13-26)… Earned his first collegiate save in the series opener at Washington, where he preserved the Aztecs’ 9-4 triumph after yielding one run on one hit with four strikeouts over the final three innings (2-27-26)… Started three straight midweek games vs. Long Beach State (3-4-26), at Cal State Fullerton (3-10-26) and at No. 13 USC (3-17-26)… Tossed a season-long six innings without allowing a run in that contest vs. Fullerton, fanning seven batters to offset four hits but did not factor in the decision… Garnered a win in relief in SDSU’s 8-4 home victory over UC Irvine, scattering three hits in three scoreless innings with one strikeout (3-24-26)… Earned a save in game two of a weekend series at Grand Canyon despite giving up two runs on two hits in the ninth inning of a 12-11 thriller (3-28-26)… Notched another victory in relief against Air Force, giving up two runs on two hits and one walk with a trio of strikeouts in two innings of the Aztecs’ 12-9 triumph in the series finale (4-4-26)… Was the fourth of five pitchers who combined on a no-hitter in SDSU’s 1-0 blanking of UC Riverside (4-7-26)… Recorded three outs on just five pitches in the eighth inning against the Highlanders… Pocketed wins in consecutive appearances at CSUN (4-21-26) and Fresno State (4-25-26) to earn Mountain West Pitcher of the Week honors… Gave up one run on four hits without a walk in three innings vs. the Matadors… Came back to post a season-high eight strikeouts in five scoreless innings against the Bulldogs… Ended the year with two innings pitched in a start against Washington State in the Aztecs’ second game of the Mountain West Championship (5-23-26).
2025 SEASON AT ARIZONA (As a Sophomore): Pitched in six games with two starts, posting a 1-0 ledger with a 7.27 ERA in 8.2 innings… Struck out eight batters against four walks… Notched his lone victory of the year after tossing two scoreless relief innings in the Wildcats’ 9-3 triumph over UT Arlington (4-23-25)… Matched his career-long outing with two innings pitched in a start vs. New Mexico State when he fanned a season-high two batters (4-25-25)… Also recorded a pair of strikeouts in consecutive appearances at Grand Canyon (5-6-25) and Houston (5-16-25)… Saw action in the first game of the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional against North Carolina (6-6-25).
2024 SEASON AT ARIZONA (As a Freshman): Appeared in four games with one start in is rookie campaign, logging a 1-0 record with four strikeouts, as the Wildcats captured the Pac-12 regular-season and conference tournament championships… Made his collegiate debut in a one-inning start against Utah Tech (2-20-24)… Fanned a season-high two batters in a scoreless ninth inning of Arizona’s 12-1 rout at Stanford (4-8-24)… Earned his first collegiate victory in the Wildcats’ 12-2 triumph at New Mexico State after tossing a scoreless frame in the second (4-24-24)… Did not see action in the postseason after making his final appearance of the year in a stint vs. Grand Canyon (4-30-24).
PRIOR TO COLLEGE: Graduated in 2023 from Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Arizona, where he was a four-year varsity letterwinner under head coach Pat Herrera… Earned first-team all-Region 6A Central honors as a senior… Was rated as the No. 10 right-handed pitcher in Arizona for the 2023 high school graduating class by Perfect Game and the 21st player in the state overall… Was also listed as a top 500 recruit nationally by the website… Garnered second-team preseason all-West Region accolades from Perfect Game prior to the 2023 campaign after receiving the same distinction as an underclassman in 2022… Earned all-tournament honors as a member of the Trosky National-2023 traveling squad at the 2021 Perfect Game WWBA Underclass World Championship in Fort Myers, Florida.
PERSONAL: Son of Roby and Nikki McKnight… Has one older brother, Devin… Enjoys golfing and working out in his spare time.
