Golf Classic Raises Over $55,000 For Student-Athlete Scholarships

The Aztec Athletic Foundation would like to thank all of its sponsors andsupporters of the 2nd Annual Aztec Athletic Foundation Scholarship GolfClassic, sponsored by Barona Casino and the Barona Band of Mission Indians,and presented by Clear Channel Communications.

The sold-out event, held Oct. 26th at Barona Creek Golf Club, raised over$55,000 for student-athlete scholarships at San Diego State University. Theday was capped off with a live auction for eight great prizes, whichincluded a trip for two to Hawaii to watch the football Aztecs vs. Hawaiion Dec. 7th, 2002, and a trip for two to the 2002 PGA Championship.

"We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the event, and would like tothank and congratulate all who participated," said committee chairman KevinFaulconer. "We are especially excited about hosting the event at our "home"venue at Barona Creek, and really look forward to the future of this eventin the coming years."

"Obviously, it was an outstanding day for student-athletes at SDSU," saidAAF director Pat Kreger. "Raising $55,000 for such a great cause will gofar in helping our student-athletes become leaders in the community in thefuture."
